It complements the Stygius's agility and is the best Aspect choice for Cursed Slash builds due to the health regain on Cursed Slash being fixed per strike, making the +15% Attack speed crucial. However, Cursed Slash builds are extremely finicky and require lucking into specific weapon upgrades like Flurry Slash and Cursed Slash to be viable. Without Flurry Slash, the lag after the standard combo leaves you open to damage and imparts a detrimental knockback effect. This Aspect is not generally recommended for dash-strike builds as attack speed is less crucial then.

The best strategy is to use Special from a distance, dash in for attacks, and dash back to safety. This hit-and-run tactic synergizes well with the Stygius's strengths and is viable against most enemies, including bosses like Asterius and Hades. It's a good and reliable choice for early-game runs.

  • For Cursed Slash builds, stack Flurry Slash (Stygius upgrade – mandatory), Swift Strike (Hermes boon, +10% Attack speed at Common rarity – optional but highly useful), a max-level Aspect of Zagreus (+15% Attack speed), and damage-mitigating boons and buffs.
  • Damage-mitigating boons and buffs for Cursed Slash include: Aphrodite’s Weak effect (near-mandatory, preferably via Heartbreak Strike or Passion Dash), Broken Resolve (Aphrodite boon), Different League (Aphrodite boon), Bronze Skin (Athena boon), Athena’s Aid (Athena Call), Divine Protection (Athena Legendary boon), and Greater Evasion (Hermes boon).
  • The Broken Spearpoint Keepsake (Patroclus) is an outstanding accompaniment to Cursed Slash builds as it limits consecutive high-powered enemy strikes.
