Walkthrough
- 1Open the cupboard at the left of the starting point. Remove the duck and cast aside. Take the FRONT DOOR KEY. Open the front door. Obtain the first journal entry At the New House from the folder on a pile of boxes near the downstairs toilet, to the left of the front door, as you face the stairs.
- 2Go up the stairs and turn right. Open the lower door of the first floor corridor bookcase, to the left, to find a cassette case, and obtain Hanging Out with Girls.
- 3Go down the corridor and straight ahead into Sam's room. Enter the code 0501 into the lock on the locker. Check the photo on the inside of the door to gain There Was Nothing Wrong, and pick up the BASEMENT KEY.
- 4Leave by the other door and enter the corridor. Go through the opposite door in the hallway to enter the bathroom. Pick up the bottle by the bath and put it down again to obtain Dealing With Roots.
- 5Return to the main stairs and go down. Turn right at the bottom and enter the west wing of the house. Open the door at the left where you enter and look inside the closet. Check the note on the backpack to obtain First Day of School.
- 6Continue down that hallway and enter the door to the right (Dad's Office). Head for the door to the adjoining room (the Library) and pause to turn on the lights. Check the compartment to reveal a Missfits flyer and obtain Adjusting to the Dark.
- 7Return to the office and back into the hall, and enter the door just across to the right. This is the TV room. Examine the book to the left of the large TV to find Big Gold Star.
- 8Leave the TV room and go down the hall, and turn left into a new room. This is the Music Room. Turn left again as soon as you enter the room, and open the door to a closet. Default Friends is acquired by reading the letter sticking out of the pocket of the blue jacket.
- 9Leave this room and turn left in the hall. This is the corridor to the Basement. Check inside the bottom drawer of the 3 drawer cupboard to find a note and Best-Laid Plans.
- 10Go left from the cupboard and enter a door (using the Basement Key) that gives you access to some stairs to the Basement. In the first room (the Junk Room) there is a pink slip of paper on a small table. It's Different Now.
- 11Go to the right, and around the corner, to the room with the Furnace. Turn left and read the letter lying on the box to obtain Ship Date.
- 12From here, turn right and go forwards, heading straight up, and then, turn to the right to reach the Servant's room. Check the set list pinned to the wall next to the door to the corridor. This is I Can Sing.
- 13Return to the previous room and turn right to enter another room. This is the Junk room with all the old newspapers. Go straight ahead and pick up a postcard from the table to trigger Stick with the group.
- 14From the Junk room, head left and up a corridor. Keep going up some stairs to reach a secret room with three tables. Getting Lonnie is obtained from reading a letter on the large table: the one with two chairs.
- 15Go up the corridor behind the table and open the secret panel door, which takes you to the East Wing hallway. Turn on the lights and open the door to the main hall. Go straight to the table and close the folder, which reveals a scrap of paper. Examine the scrap paper at the lower left edge of the coffee table. This is The Nunnery.
- 16Turn left from the table and continue a few steps down the hallway to reach the Dining Room. There's a colourful folder on the dining room table, at the end nearest the door you entered. Inside it is a note and slip of paper. Check them both out to obtain A Very Long Phase.
- 17Leave the Dining Room by the second door (which is opposite the kitchen door). Walk left, to the end of the corridor. Check the secret panel to the left of the table at the end of the corridor. The note is a crumpled piec
- 18Find the 24th diary entry, an Easter Egg item, hidden inside the garage.
Tips
- The order in which you obtain the entries does not matter.
- Adjust game settings (Options/Graphics) so the light is as bright as possible before starting to save time.
- Practice some sections beforehand to become familiar with the fastest route.
- Most objects require you to examine them and then put them back for narration to start.
- Don't bother switching on lights except when necessary (corridors, Dad's Office/Library, Sam's room, basement). If possible, avoid turning on any lights to save time.
- Sam's room is visited twice: once at the start, and once near the end.
