Learn how to counter Foxy the Pirate Fox in Five Nights at Freddy's. Discover his phases, attack patterns, and the best strategies to prevent him from reaching your office and draining your power.

Foxy is a unique enemy in Five Nights at Freddy's who doesn't move around the restaurant like other animatronics. Instead, he emerges from his home in Pirate Cove. Once fully out, he will make a dash for your office. Foxy has four distinct phases:

Phase 1: Completely behind the curtain, not visible.

Phase 2: Peeking out from behind the curtain.

Phase 3: Completely off his stage, preparing to run to your office.

Phase 4: Gone entirely; he is on his way to your office.

Foxy starts each night in Phase 1. Each successful movement chance advances him to the next phase. Upon reaching Phase 4, you have approximately 25 seconds before he enters through the left door. Unlike other animatronics, Foxy's attack is not dependent on monitor usage. If you view camera 2A (West Hall) while Foxy is in Phase 4, he will immediately sprint down the hall and visit your office. If he is stopped by the left door, he returns to Pirate Cove, with a 50% chance of returning to Phase 1 or jumping to Phase 2.

Closing the left door prevents Foxy from entering but drains power. This power drain starts at 1% for the first visit and increases by 5% for each subsequent attack (e.g., 6% for the second, 11% for the third). Therefore, the best tactic is to prevent Foxy from reaching the left door as much as possible.

To keep Foxy at bay, similar to Freddy, Foxy dislikes the cameras being watched. Watching any camera guarantees his movement chances will fail while the cameras are active. Foxy's aversion is more generalized than Freddy's; watching any camera, not just 1C, is sufficient. The effect of camera-watching is prolonged with Foxy, as his movement chances will continue to fail for a variable amount of time (0.83 to 16.67 seconds) even after lowering the camera. Quick, frequent camera checks are recommended to maximize the time Foxy is locked in place and minimize his opportunities to advance.
