Learn how to farm endgame materials in FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time by utilizing The Don, a wandering merchant, and supplementing your Treasure Grove runs.

Certain endgame materials can only be harvested in the Treasure Grove, making them a chore to accumulate. However, a wandering merchant in Ginormosia, known as The Don, can also sell these materials!

During Chapter 1, you will travel to Ginormosia, a massive, mostly optional continent where you can explore, fight, farm, fish, and engage in the game’s core mechanics in a free, unstructured way. It’s essentially the game’s sandbox. While you can find every material in the game in Ginormosia, a few materials are notable for their absence: Dragontree Wings, Dragontree Horns, Evil Shards, Poseidon Swordfish, Godfish, Beelzebub Tuna, and Sultan Hearts can only be found in Treasure Groves.

Fortunately, The Don, a wandering merchant you encounter during your first visit, can stock nearly every item in the game, including those not found in Ginormosia. However, there are several caveats:

  • The Don’s stock at any given time is somewhat random; there’s no guarantee he’ll have what you need.
  • His stock varies depending on the region you find him in and that region’s Area Rank.
  • His stock is very limited, rarely exceeding 1-3 of the rarer materials.
  • His stock rotates over time, so you may need to wait for him to change locations and stock.
  • You need Cashnuts to trade for his wares, and accruing Cashnuts is generally a slow endeavor.

While The Don may not be your primary source for the rarest materials, the alternatives aren’t much better. Running Treasure Groves requires farming Treasure Grove Saplings from Mimics, planting them, hoping RNG spawns a boss worth farming, and then running the Treasure Grove itself, which can take over 10 minutes. Both methods are time sinks, so utilizing The Don simultaneously with Treasure Grove runs will significantly speed up material acquisition, making him an indispensable source of endgame materials.

The Don Recipes

The Don is also the exclusive source for a variety of recipes, including the Desert, Pirate, Pink Magic, and Holy gear sets, as well as various mounts, decorations, and accessories. Like most of his wares, these are randomly stocked (usually only around 3 items at a time), and some items may be gated by the Area Rank of the region where The Don is located. For example, to get the Holy Set, you’ll need to find The Don in an Area Rank 6+ region. His stock of recipes remains the same for every region, regardless of Area Rank.

The Don Endgame Materials

While exclusive recipes are appealing, having a supplemental source of endgame materials is the primary reason to seek out The Don. You should do this in addition to other activities like leveling Area Ranks or farming Treasure Groves. Stop to check in with The Don every time you notice he’s changed regions to see his new stock. As long as you maintain a steady supply of Cashnuts, you can use The Don to accumulate rare materials needed for crafting the game’s best gear and reaching Hero Rank in various Lives.

Complications arise because The Don’s stock varies depending on his location and the Area Rank of that region. Boosting a region’s Area Rank is a grind, but you can use this opportunity to farm legendary materials like the Legendary Don Horn (no relation to The Don the merchant!), Legendary Shiny Diamonds, and Legendary Divine Logs. Clear Challenges in regions to gain Area Points; when an area reaches Area Rank 4+, legendary events will spawn. For vegetables, ore deposits, and trees, these events can yield 1,000 Area Points per harvest. Challenges otherwise yield a sta
