Master the Fallout Shelter HUD with this guide. Learn about Dweller lists, happiness levels, resource meters, Bottlecaps, build/upgrade options, room stats, and the Navigation Menu.

This section explains the various elements of the Heads-Up Display (HUD) in Fallout Shelter, helping you manage your vault more effectively.

HUD Elements:

  1. Dweller List (Top Left Cog): Tapping the cog opens a list of all vault inhabitants, showing their name, health, skills, S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats, happiness, room location, and room status (e.g., time until next output).
  2. Overall Happiness (Next to Cog): This meter reflects the average happiness of all dwellers. The face icon changes based on the happiness level.
  3. Resource Meters (Right of Happiness): These track your resources (e.g., Power, Water, Food). A small green line indicates the minimum required amount. Falling below this may necessitate RUSHing a room.
  4. Bottlecap Count & Build/Upgrade Button (Right of Resources): The Bottlecap count shows your current currency. The hammer-shaped Build button opens the build menu, while the up-arrow Upgrade button allows room upgrades when a room is selected.
  5. Dweller Assignment (Bottom Left Clipboard): Appears when a room is selected, displaying the dwellers assigned to that room.
  6. Room Stats (Next to Dweller Assignment): Also appears when a room is selected, showing the best S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat for the room, the time until the next output, and the room's name.
  7. RUSH Button (Next to Room Stats): Allows you to instantly complete a room's production cycle. Use with caution, as failure can trigger an incident.
  8. Navigation Menu (Bottom Right Pip-Boy Icon): Opens a menu with five options:
    • Settings: Adjust Sound, Music, Sensitivity, and Notifications.
    • Survival Guide: Find information on weapons, outfits, and special dwellers.
    • Inventory: View and manage stored outfits and weapons, including selling items not currently equipped.
    • Objectives: Track current challenges that reward Bottlecaps or Lunchboxes. You can have three active objectives and skip one every 24 hours.
    • Lunchboxes: Open collected lunchboxes or purchase new ones.

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Attributes Explained:
