Follow our guide to complete the 'If You Love Someone' mission in Evil Dead: The Game. Find Linda's necklace and head, facing Henrietta and more!
Alright, so you've booted up Evil Dead: The Game and you're diving into the single-player missions. This one, 'If You Love Someone,' is pretty iconic if you're a fan of the movies. It's basically a throwback to that classic Evil Dead 2 scene where Ash has to deal with Linda. Your main goal here is to find Linda's necklace and then her head, and bring them back to the cabin. Sounds morbid, right? Well, it's Evil Dead, so buckle up!
You'll start off as Ash in a house in the woods. You've got your trusty long gun and a chainsaw. That chainsaw looks cool, but it can be a bit tricky to handle when things get tight, so keep that in mind.
The room you start in has a creepy, chained-up trap door. That's Henrietta, the level's boss, and she'll be chattering away. Just ignore her for now and grab the two matchbooks and ammo box in the room. Before you bail, make sure to search the other rooms for more goodies – you should be able to find about 12 shells and a can of cola. You're gonna need all the supplies you can get.
When you head outside, don't just bolt. Skirt around the back of the house. You'll spot a creepy shack you can't enter, but there's more ammo outside. Keep hunting around in the undergrowth behind it, and you'll find a couple more boxes of ammo. By the time you leave this area, you should have over 20 shells, those two matchbooks, and that can of cola. Don't skip this part; every bit counts!
Bronson Cave
Your first objective marker will point you towards Bronson Cave, located in the north-western part of the map. Bring up your map to get your bearings. You've got a couple of routes: you can go straight there, or take the tracks. Going straight might be quicker but darker, and your fear level could become an issue, especially since you only have two matchbooks right now. However, a stealthier approach might let you avoid some Deadites, saving your health and ammo for later.
Along the way, you probably won't face more than two Deadites at once. They're usually pretty easy to take down quickly. As you get closer to the cave, watch out for two Deadites near the entrance. Aim for headshots – if you nail them, they won't get close, and one might even drop some extra ammo. Be careful if you're approaching the cave from the left side of the path; there's a massive tree that can swing out and scare you half to death. Sticking to the right seems to be the safer bet.
Once you're outside the cave, you can grab another matchbook and some more ammo for your gun. Head inside, take out the low-level enemy lurking there, and grab anything you find. There are a few paths, but they're short and all lead to your first real challenge: a Deadite Elite. You'll want to back up and pepper him with headshots. When he inevitably gets close, switch to your chainsaw and focus on dodging his attacks. Your gun's a bit slow here – it only holds two shells, and reloading takes forever. So, hit him, back off, reload, and repeat. You should be able to handle him this way. After you defeat him, you'll finally snag Linda's necklace. Now, your next objective is to find a shovel.
Finding the Shovel
Your on-screen marker will update to show you where to find the shovel. It's located in the Lucky Valley Lodge. You might be tempted to go there before heading to the cave, but don't bother – the shovel won't appear until you've completed the first part of the mission. So, you can't really skip ahead.
If you're lucky and the path is clear, you might make it to the lodge without running into any more Deadites. Get inside, grab the shovel, and it's time for some… grave robbing. You can find an upgraded shotgun in Bronson Cave, and this star-spangled chainsaw is guarded by a demonic portal.
Head for the Head
They call it Lucky Valley Lodge for a reason, I guess. Right outside, there's a massive demonic portal that's going to start spawning demons. Just what you needed, right? Take them all out, and one of them will drop an upgraded chainsaw for you. Score!
Now, follow your map marker to the Demonic Treehouse (yeah, it doesn't sound like a vacation spot, but you gotta do what you gotta do). Find the cross marking Linda's grave, and you'll get the head. Everything's going according to plan so far. Your final task is to head to the work shed to
