Ebb Weaver Phase 1 Strategy

Guide to Ettir, the Angel in Esoteric Ebb. Learn the optimal path for XP gains, class definition, and avoiding HP loss. Includes dialogue options and companion interactions.

Optimal Path Summary:

  • Potential Gains: Tower Key, Tea Shop Password ("Kardemum Poison"), +1 Cleric point, 1 Medium XP drop, up to 6 Minor XP drops.
  • Potential Losses: 1 HP if arrogant about Coinlord. 1d4 HP if Bard flirt fails and you attempt to touch her.
  • What to Avoid: Saying "I'm more important than anything he might be doing." Attempting to touch her eyes after a failed flirt.
  • What to Do: Choose "Just _The Cleric_ is fine, thank you." to lock in your class. Whisper to Snell about angels for Minor XP. Stand up to her for another Minor XP drop. Wait until Day 2 for the Tower Key and Tea Shop password (Medium XP). Exhaust her dialogue, using "Tomato, potato" for a final Minor XP drop.

Walkthrough:

In the courtyard of the Magistrate's estate, you will find Ettir, a celestial angel employed by the city. She communicates telepathically and speaks very little. You can earn a lot of XP during this encounter, make good use of it!

Ettir, the Angel

Initial Greeting & Class Definition

When you approach Ettir, your passive stats will analyze her presence. If your companions (Meek or Snell) are with you, they will react with fear.

Ettir will address you telepathically as an Arcane Cleric. You can respond with several options. Choose the following to lock in your class:

  • "Just _The Cleric_ is fine, thank you." - ou003e Adds +1 Cleric
  • "That's me. Hello." / "How do you know that?" / (Point at yourself.) "Ragn." - ou003e Flavor choices with no stat changes.

Following your introduction, Ettir states her name. Listening to her introduction automatically grants Minor XP. If Meek is with you, you will have a brief sub-menu to discuss the angel's beauty or terrifying nature; these are purely flavor choices.

The Celestial Flirt

During your internal panic over her appearance, you will have the option to comment on her halo of eyes. Anyone can attempt this, though possessing the Bard class provides a massive hidden bonus to the roll.

  • [Active Check: CHA] Tell her what you think of her many eyes.

Success: You go on a rambling, poetic monologue about her beauty. Ettir simply replies, "Thank you." You gain Minor XP and can safely stand back up.
Failure: Your words get tangled. You are given three options to salvage the moment:
"Are you- are you _okay?!_" - ou003e Safely exits the sequence.
"Your eyes are… so fucking freaky." - ou003e Safely exits the sequence.
"(Reach out to touch them.)" - ou003e Snell attempts to pull you back, but the angel insults you in Celestial. The psychic sheer weight of her words causes an unavoidable 1d4 HP Loss, though you receive Minor XP as a consolation prize.

Snell's Warning & Darrow's Schedule

Your companion Snell will whisper to you, telling you not to mess with her.

  • [Requires Snell] Whisper back, "Why? Aren't angels good?" - ou003e Snell warns you about celestial punishment. His warning grants Minor XP.
  • "Nice weather we're having." / "I'm here to investigate the tea shop." / "Is this the Darrow residence?" - ou003e She stares at you in silence.

To proceed, you must demand her attention.

  • "Great, so, uh..." / "I don't have time for this." / "(Just stare at her.)" - ou003e She continues to stare.

You must then state your business: "I need to speak with Darrow," "You really freak me out," or "Speak normally, damn it!" Any of these prompt her to speak a derogatory Celestial phrase.

  • (Take a step forward.) "Don't disrespect me, angel." - ou003e She places a hand on your helmet and whispers a warning. Surviving her
