Navigating Floor B4 of the Dragon Age: The Veilguard walkthrough. Learn about Taash's companion quest, Lair of the Dragon King, and how to rescue Shathann.

Floor B4 Guide

Alright, let's get you through Floor B4. This section is part of Taash's companion quest, Lair of the Dragon King, which you'll unlock after finishing Blood of Arlathan and Taash's previous quest, Slaying the Fangscorcher. You'll need to have a chat with Taash in the dining room after Shathann visits. If other companions are hogging the dining room conversations, you might need to clear those out first.

Rescuing Shathann

The quest kicks off with Rook and Taash finding Shathann's place a mess, with just a bit of blood hinting at what happened. It turns out Cutter, with Isabela's help, nabbed Shathann and her tablet, which apparently has info on 'fire-breathers' (adaari) and something called The Dragon King.

You'll need to track Cutter. Taash can pick up the scent on an abandoned boat. Follow the trail, taking down any Antaam you run into. You'll find a note from the Antaam to Cutter near a bloodstain. Use Taash's fire-breathing to get through blocked doors, and keep following the clues. You'll find another clue by a waterfall, and then it's more of the same: follow clues, open doors, and fight enemies.

Heads up: A new area opens up here, and you'll be able to revisit it later. Some chests you see on the map won't be accessible until after you finish the quest.

Eventually, you'll meet up with Isabela and some Lords, including Mateo and Seer Rowan. They'll draw some Antaam away while you focus on the rescue. To get to the base, take the ladder southwest of Isabela, then climb the wall and head left along the walkway. After another fight, the path loops back to a ladder that takes you down. Make sure to unlock any shortcuts you see – they'll be super handy for coming back later. You'll need to do some more platforming, moving upward through warden ruins. Keep an eye out for a ladder you can let down in case you fall before jumping across a plank and then onto more platforms and beams. There's a chest near the last beam. Jump along the cliff edge and let down the final ladder. Around the corner, you'll find an area with another confrontation.

Grab the chest and climb the ladder to enter the lair itself. You can go left or right, but the paths eventually meet up. Head down through the ruined tower until you reach the ground. Be ready for the Antaam to start attacking with gaatlok cannons and regular enemies. You can walk on the edges of the lava for a short time, but don't linger or you'll take too much damage. After defeating the Antaam, take the stairs on the left and follow the path to a point where you can jump off to the right onto a walkway. Run along the roof, jump off at the end, and keep going until you find another ladder.

This is where Cutter shows up. He talks about becoming a fire-breather, but don't worry, he won't be around for long.

Most of the chests here are off-limits until after the quest, but grab the one that's out in the open. To the right of it, Taash can melt a crystal wall so you can jump behind it. This path leads up a ladder to a gaatlok cannon – use it to clear the path ahead, then backtrack the same way.

Confronting The Dragon King

Through the new opening, you'll reach a great hall. On the upper level, you'll find clues about old Grey Warden activity, revealing how the Antaam learned to blight dragons. A hole in the wall on the second floor leads to the confrontation with The Dragon King, who turns out to be a fire-breather too.

You'll see Shathann, but it's a trap! The Dragon King monologues about using Taash's blood to create an army of adaari. Shathann stands up to him, defending her child and revealing her motto, "shokra toh ebra", which means to struggle to find who you are, not to struggle with what you are. In a brave move, Shathann throws herself onto a lever to free Taash from the trap, but she's fatally wounded for it.

Avenge Shathann

After that, you'll need to backtrack down and through the gate into the Grey Warden fortress. Then, take the new beam across the gap in the bridge outside to continue.
