Dragon Quest VII Reimagined introduces a New Game+ mode, allowing players to restart their adventure with certain advantages carried over from a previous playthrough. This mode is designed to provide a fresh experience for those who wish to explore different character builds, uncover missed secrets, or simply enjoy the story again with a more powerful starting advantage. Upon initiating New Game+, players will retain their accumulated gold, typically around 50,000G, and all the items they had in their inventory at the end of the previous game, excluding key story items that are essential for early progression.

Character levels are reset to their base values, but the knowledge and mastery of vocations are retained. This means that any vocation levels achieved, such as reaching level 8 in the Warrior vocation or level 5 in the Mage vocation, will carry over. This allows players to immediately access more powerful skills and spells from the outset, enabling them to tackle early-game challenges with greater ease. For instance, a player who mastered the Priest vocation can immediately use healing spells like Healmore from the beginning of the game, significantly reducing the reliance on items.

Furthermore, any Mini Medals collected in the previous playthrough will also be retained. This provides a significant head start in acquiring powerful equipment from the Medal King's Castle, such as the Gringham Whip or the Metal Babble. While enemy stats and placement remain largely the same, the retained gold and items, combined with the vocational progress, allow for more experimental party compositions and a faster overall progression through the initial islands. This makes New Game+ an excellent opportunity to experiment with advanced vocations like the Gladiator or Sage much earlier in the game.
