Learn about Diablo III Hell and Inferno difficulties, including their challenges and requirements, plus PC system specs.

Hell Difficulty: This mode significantly challenges players, requiring well-geared characters, thoughtful builds, and knowledge of boss tactics and mob abilities, which have increased in number since Nightmare. Rares and champions can have up to 3 bonus affixes. Average players will need to farm loot from previous difficulties or trade for it to make progress.

Inferno Difficulty: This is the ultimate end-game difficulty. It introduces three new tiers of gear, extremely hard monsters that are ALWAYS above your level, and rares and champions with up to 4 bonus affixes. Players will be at level cap (60) while monsters are level 61 and above. Beating Inferno is near-impossible for average players, requiring dedication, farming in Acts 3 & 4 of Hell and early Inferno, and developing strong solo or synergistic party builds. Extreme caution and knowledge of enemies and bosses are essential. Hardcore players will also find this mode the ultimate challenge.

Once Inferno is beaten, the end-game continues with farming for gear in any of the four acts, against any mobs, rares, champions, or bosses. Enemy levels always being above you ensures continuous challenge and fun.

Final Note on Difficulties: Beating normal mode does not finish Diablo III. The game is designed for characters to progress through multiple difficulties, farming for gear and content. Approximately 70% of items, including more powerful gear, better stats, recipe drops, and gems, are found on higher difficulties.
