Learn about health restoration, resource types (Fury, Hatred, Spirit, Mana, Arcane Power), and attributes (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Vitality) in Diablo III.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Enemies have a chance to drop health globes, with champions, rares, and bosses having a higher drop chance. These instantly restore a small percentage of your health.
  2. 2
Healing wells restore all of your and your party members' health to maximum.
  3. 3
You can drink a potion from your inventory by right-clicking it or by pressing the potion hotkey on your hotbar.
  4. 4
Many classes have healing abilities, such as the Rend ability with the Blood Lust rune for Barbarians, or using Breath of Heaven as a Monk.
  5. 5
Increase your maximum life by equipping items with more VITALITY. Each point of Vitality initially increases health by 10, scaling up to 35 life per point at level 60.

Resource Systems:

Resource is the energy used by the 5 hero classes for their most powerful abilities. Unlike older games where mana was universal, Diablo III features unique resource systems per class.

  • FURY (Barbarian): Starts empty, gained by fury-generating abilities, and spent on powerful abilities like Hammer of the Ancients. Max Fury is 100, drainable out of combat. Displayed as burning orange.
  • HATRED/DISCIPLINE (Demon Hunter): A dual resource. Hatred fuels offensive abilities (regenerates over time or via attacks), max 125. Discipline fuels traps and defensive abilities (slowly regenerates), max 30. Hatred is dark orange, Discipline is deep blue.
  • SPIRIT (Monk): Fuels deadly moves. Increased by spirit-generating abilities and spent on spirit-spenders. Does not decrease over time. Max Spirit is 150, can increase to 250 with a passive ability. Displayed as creamy white.
  • MANA (Witch Doctor): The only resource that increases by itself as you level up. Fuels most abilities and recovers slowly by waiting. Max Mana increases with level and can be increased by item stats. Displayed as dark blue.
  • ARCANE POWER (Wizard): Extremely fast regenerating resource for powerful spells. Max Arcane Power is 100, can be increased with a passive ability and item stats. Displayed as a purple-pink glittering globe.

Attributes:

Four main attributes boost damage for specific classes and provide defensive benefits for all classes.

  • Strength: Increases Barbarian damage and armor for all classes. Benefits Monks most after Barbarians for tanking.
  • Dexterity: Primary attribute for Monk and Demon Hunter damage. Increases dodge chance for all classes. Useful for Barbarians as a melee character for damage mitigation.
  • Intelligence: Increases Witch Doctor and Wizard damage. Increases all resistances (including Physical) by a percentage for all classes.
  • Vitality: Increases life (health) for all classes.
Tips
  • While stacking Vitality increases maximum life, consider the trade-off with offensive or other defensive stats.
  • Intelligence provides a percentage-based resistance bonus, which is valuable for all classes, especially at higher levels.
  • Strength's armor bonus and Dexterity's dodge chance become less impactful at higher levels, making Intelligence resistances more appealing for Barbarians and Monks.
