Learn about the Scoundrel and Enchantress companions, understand crafting recipes, utilize the Blacksmith and Jeweler artisans, and manage your shared stash in Diablo III.

The scoundrel is an archer class who aids you with bows and crossbows, snares, and stealth. He excels at slowing enemies and dealing damage.

The Enchantress is a powerful magic user capable of charming enemies and providing buffs alongside her elemental spells. She offers crowd control and support.

(05) Recipes

Recipes are used for crafting specific items with your blacksmith. They are found in the end-game of Diablo 3. While your blacksmith can learn many recipes through training, the best ones are world drops. These rare recipes offer gear superior to what a fully trained blacksmith can make. Crafting can be expensive, but future patches are expected to reduce costs, making these recipes more valuable. The game also features Legendary recipes, allowing you to craft legendary items repeatedly, limited only by ingredient requirements.

(06) Artisans

Artisans are a new and welcome addition to the Diablo series, replacing the Horadric Cube for crafting. They handle all crafting for the player. The decision to have dedicated artisans rather than player-learned professions was made to better fit the Diablo universe's atmosphere. Artisans require gold for training to learn new recipes (though better recipes can also be found as drops). Training them multiple times levels them up, enabling them to craft better items, and their shops visually upgrade over time. There are two artisans, both useful until the end-game, each with their own backstories accessible through chat.

[a] Blacksmith

The blacksmith salvages and crafts weapons and armor. While he can create useful items, most stats on his crafted gear are randomized, adding a gambling-like feel consistent with Diablo's trademark randomization. Salvaging items destroys them and yields crafting components. Each difficulty level introduces new components, with rarer items providing better components and legendary items yielding the best. Items of lower rarity may salvage into components from higher-rarity items. With numerous rare recipes to collect (including legendaries) and anticipated crafting cost reductions, the blacksmith will be a valuable ally for upgrading gear in the early to mid-Inferno stages.

[b] Jeweler

The jeweler combines gems into higher-tier gems and can also extract gems from socketed weapons and armor. Combining two gems of tiers 1-6 results in a single gem of the next tier, at a gold cost. Extracting gems also costs gold, with higher-tier gems being more expensive to remove. This artisan is a significant improvement, as players previously avoided gemming items to save gems for combining. Now, players can gem items and later extract gems using the jeweler if needed for combining.

(07) Your Stash

Your stash is a chest found in every town, serving as a container for items you don't wish to keep on your characters. It is shared across all characters, allowing easy item transfer. The stash begins as a small container but can be upgraded with additional slots, with new tabs becoming progressively more expensive. You can have up to three tabs, each containing a full page of slots. Useful items to store include different item sets, desirable gear, items for future characters, items for sale on the Auction House, or unique items.

(08) NPCs

NPCs are crucial in role-playing games, and Diablo 3 is no exception. As an Action RPG, Diablo 3 places less emphasis on dialogue and story compared to traditional RPGs, but it still offers more NPC interaction options than many other ARPGs. Diablo 3 features numerous main story characters who accompany you and have multiple dialogue topics. To chat with an NPC, select the 'chat' option after clicking on them.
