Hayate was a victim of Donovan's schemes, losing his memory due to DOATEC's research for Project Epsilon. After regaining his memory, he led ninja forces to annihilate DOATEC. Two years later, he accepts an invitation from Helena, the president of the newly reformed DOATEC, and travels to the Freedom Survivor.
