How to get the Gunless Trophy in MW2

Follow this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II guide to earn the Gunless Trophy. Learn how to navigate missions without firing a shot, focusing on stealth and crafting.

The first half of the mission is straightforward. Follow the tutorial, grab crafting materials, a torch, and other items. Proceed through the usual areas, scavenging for wax, chemicals, explosives, mouse traps, and more. Craft these into smoke bombs and trip mines. Use the first mine and bottle bait to progress. Guards may appear after an explosion; use a smoke bomb on an alleyway corner to obscure their vision as they investigate, then run for the ledge. This is manageable on easier difficulties, but challenging on harder ones.

Explore the early parts of the mission normally, stocking up on items.

After the first area, head to the house with the shotgun rigged to the door. Go to the car, jump through the window, and disarm the shotgun. Ensure you do not fire your weapon. If you shoot, reload the checkpoint immediately, as the game saving after you fire will cause you to lose trophy progress. Proceed through the housing area, looting materials. Once done with the shotgun building, head upstairs and loot both buildings. Ensure you have two smoke bombs and mines before proceeding to the coffee shop's first floor.

Gunless Trophy: The Coffee House Street Phase

This is the more challenging part of the mission, involving actual street patrols and numerous guards. First, loot the coffee shop on the ground floor. Craft more items if needed and avoid the windows.

TLDR Instructions:

1. Loot the coffee shop.
2. Sneak into the garage.
3. Cross the road towards the laundry room and loot the oil from the box.
4. Enter the bar through the side door.
5. Climb to the bar's second floor.
6. Drop down into the shrubbery.
7. Sneak through the road via the archways.
8. Move through the fountain area into the flooded street.

Head towards the garage, using it as cover to cross the road, while still watching for patrols.

From the coffee shop's front door, go to the garage on the left. Guards patrol outside the garage and coffee shop. Wait for them to pass, or use a bottle to distract them, then enter the garage through the open window. Inside, check for patrols as they sometimes enter. If clear, loot the garage. Be aware of guards entering from the garage office door, the door near the coffee house, and the main road door. If guards enter, hide and throw a bottle in the opposite direction. To cross the road, use the white car and military truck as cover from road patrols and those near the garage.

Once across the road, enter the pinkish room with washing machines on the left. Open the box inside, which contains oil for crafting Molotovs. Walk through the corridor into another alleyway with a patrolling soldier. Head left into the darkest part of the alley, go prone behind a car, and wait for the soldier to turn around before proceeding. Open the door to your left and enter the bar.

Inside the bar, stock up on bindings, chemicals, explosives, and other crafting materials. Move to the front parlor; a guard will enter through the gate. Hide behind a pillar in the parlor. Throw a bottle into the bar to lure the guard inside, using the pillar for cover to remain undetected. Once the guard is inside, head upstairs via the parlor stairs. There is more loot upstairs. When finished, go to the upstairs balcony and jump the fence.

Immediately go prone after jumping the fence and use the shrubbery in front of the bar's window for cover. This will reduce any attention from patrols on the final part of the road. Wait for the coast to clear and move through the archways in the road. In the next area is a Day of the Dead-themed fountain with green lights that make you easier to spot. Sneak carefully, using bottles to bait enemies to one side of the fountain area. If spotted, use smoke bombs on the remaining guards and reach the flooded street below the fountain. If guards are grouped, a mine can be effective, but then quickly run to the flooded area and proceed.

The Flooded Section

Enter the flooded area and collect any loot as you swim. Once in the flooded tunnel, dive underwater to bypass guards easily. Look for red lights in the water, which indicate guard locations. If you need to breathe, surface quickly and dive back down without risk of detection. A guard will be near the stairs when you need to exit. Stealthily take down this guard to escape. Other guards will investigate, so climb the stairs and enter the next area.
