The MP44 is a versatile assault rifle in Call of Duty 2026, capable of functioning effectively at both close and long ranges. Historically, it was the first true assault rifle, influencing later designs like the AK-47.

Historical Information:

The Sturmgewehr 44 (StG 44) revolutionized infantry combat by combining the high rate of fire of a submachine gun with the accuracy and power of a rifle. Despite initial resistance from conservative military authorities and challenges with early designs, the concept eventually prevailed. It saw its first large-scale use with the 93rd ID on the Eastern Front. After minor modifications, it was designated the MP44. Its production was prioritized in July 1944 after commanders personally appealed to Hitler. By December 1944, it was officially named Sturmgewehr 44. A total of 425,977 MP43 and MP44/Sturmgewehr units were produced, each costing 66 Reichsmarks.

Special Variants:

• ZF 1229 Vampir: An infrared night sighting device that, with its support gear, weighed 15.3kg. 310 of these were produced by Leitz.
• Krummerlauf: A "bent barrel" attachment with a periscope sight designed for shooting around corners. Variants included 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90° angles, intended for infantry and tank use. Only the 30° "I" version for the StGw 44 was produced in significant numbers.
