How to Beat Garuda Team

Learn the best strategies and tips to overcome the challenging Garuda Team in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Master their weaknesses and emerge victorious.

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Garuda 1 (Leader): High maneuverability, armed with advanced missiles. Weak to sustained missile fire and close-range cannon bursts.
• Garuda 2-4: Standard fighter capabilities, act as escorts. Vulnerable to standard missile barrages and cannon fire.
• Garuda 5 (Heavy): Slower, heavily armored, equipped with a powerful cannon. Weak point is its rear; difficult to hit but takes significant damage.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Approach and Escort Engagement: The Garuda Team appears with several escort fighters. Focus on eliminating the escorts first to prevent being overwhelmed. Use missiles to thin their numbers quickly.
2. Phase 2: Garuda 1 Engagement: Once escorts are down, Garuda 1 will engage directly. He uses evasive maneuvers and missile volleys. Stay locked on and use flares to counter his missiles.
3. Phase 3: Garuda 5 Engagement: After Garuda 1 is damaged, Garuda 5 will enter the fray. This heavy fighter is slow but dangerous. Maneuver behind it and unload cannon fire.
4. Phase 4: Combined Assault: Remaining Garuda members will attack in a coordinated fashion. Use the environment for cover and focus fire on the most immediate threat.

Strategy:

• Maintain a high altitude to gain a better vantage point and avoid ground fire.
• Use your special weapons effectively; consider air-to-air missiles with high lock-on capabilities or a cannon with a high rate of fire.
• Conserve flares and use them strategically when facing multiple missile threats.
• Practice high-G turns to outmaneuver the Garuda Team, especially Garuda 1.
• If possible, use the terrain to break line-of-sight and force the enemy into disadvantageous positions.
• Target Garuda 5's rear for maximum damage.
