Edward Brock Sr. was a partner to Dr. Richard Parker in their research to create a cure for cancer, which led to the development of the Venom suit. When funding became scarce, he suggested seeking outside financial support, resulting in a partnership with Bolivar Trask. Trask later misappropriated their invention for his own purposes. Following Dr. Richard Parker's plan to destroy their research on the Venom suit, Edward Brock Sr. managed to retain a sample of the material. Both Edward Brock Sr. and his wife are believed to have perished in the same mysterious plane crash that claimed the lives of Richard Parker and his wife.
