Guide to Tomb Raider II Barkhang Monastery, including how to get Prayer Wheels and avoid hostile Monks. Features 49 pickups and 3 Trophies.
Walkthrough
- 1Encounter numerous Monks who are generally peaceful and will assist you in battles against human enemies. A key strategy is to let Monks handle as much of the fighting as possible.
- 2Warning: If you fire even one shot at a Monk, all Monks will become hostile from that point forward. To avoid this, do not attack Monks. If a Monk attacks you, reload your game.
- 3In New Game+ Mode, all Monks will be hostile from the start.
- 4The level requires 5 Prayer Wheels to exit. However, a glitch allows you to exit with only 1 Prayer Wheel.
- 5To use the glitch: Obtain the first Prayer Wheel and return to the main area. Use the Main Hall Key to open the Main Hall doors and Save. Dash left through the Main Hall, jump over the railing, and run into the Prayer Wheel room. Save again.
- 6Stand before a Prayer Wheel spindle and insert the Prayer Wheel.
- 7Go to another spindle, but do not press Action. Open the Menu, then press Up on the D-pad to access key items. Select the Seraph. The game will register this as inserting a Prayer Wheel.
- 8Repeat step 6 for the other 3 spindles. This will open the doors to the next level. This shortcut cost 1 Medi Pack but saved hours of gameplay.
Tips
- Friendly Monks are invaluable allies; avoid antagonizing them at all costs.
- The level has 49 pickups and 3 Trophies. One Trophy requires preventing any Monks from dying, which is difficult and best attempted later in the game when you have access to all weapons.
- The level features several traps, one of which is difficult.
- In New Game+, Monks are hostile from the start, significantly increasing enemy numbers and making ammo and Medi Pack conservation crucial.
- A similar glitch involving the Seraph can be used with the Circuit Breakers in the Wreck of the Maria Doria level, using either the Restroom Key or the Rusty Key instead.
