Confronting Ganabelt

This guide covers the boss fight against Ganabelt in Tales of Arise. Learn his weaknesses, phases, and the best strategy to defeat him.

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Ganabelt starts with relatively standard sword attacks. He'll use quick slashes and lunges. His main special attack in this phase is a wide-reaching light wave.
2. Phase 2: Ganabelt becomes more aggressive, chaining attacks faster. He gains access to more powerful light-based spells, including area-of-effect attacks that cover a large portion of the arena. He may also summon spectral swords that home in on you.
3. Phase 3: In his final phase, Ganabelt unleashes his most devastating attacks. Expect rapid barrages of light projectiles, powerful charged spells, and a high chance of summoning multiple spectral swords. His movement becomes more erratic, making him harder to predict.

Strategy:

• Exploit Elemental Weaknesses: Equip characters with fire and ice artes. Shionne's fire attacks and Rinwell's ice artes are particularly effective. Ensure you have artes that can hit him consistently.
• Dodge and Weave: Ganabelt's attacks are fast. Learn his tells for his lunges and sweeping attacks. Dodging *into* some of his attacks can position you for a counter-attack.
• Punish Big Moves: After he finishes a major attack or spell, there's usually a brief window where he's vulnerable. This is your prime opportunity to unleash your strongest artes and combos.
• Manage Spectral Swords: If he summons spectral swords, prioritize destroying them quickly. They can overwhelm you with constant damage if left unchecked. Characters with rapid-fire attacks can deal with them efficiently.
• Use Boost Attacks Wisely: Use Law's Boost Attack to interrupt his casting or Alphen's Boost Attack to close the distance and stun him, creating openings for your party.
• Heal Proactively: Don't wait until your party is critically low on health. Keep an eye on the HP bars and use healing artes or items before things get too dangerous.
• Guard Against Light Attacks: While you can't resist his light attacks, some defensive artes or skills might mitigate a small amount of damage. Focus primarily on evasion.
