Complete System Shock tasks: disable lasers, jettison Beta Grove, destroy antennae, destroy the reactor, and destroy Shodan.

  • For destroying antennae: Ensure the Cyborg Conversion chamber on Level 4 has been found and fixed.
  • For destroying the reactor: Obtain authorization from Earth after destroying the 4 antennae on Level 7.
Walkthrough
  1. 1
    Disable Laser
    • Obtain the X-22 Isotope from Level 2 (southwest). Use the button on the wall next to it to lower the force field.
  2. 2
Use the X-22 Isotope on the panel at the Shield Generator on Level R (southwest).
  3. 3
Enter the Laser Override Code (199) on Level R (west).
  4. 4
Fire the Laser on Level 2 (central area). This action will enable the elevators to Level 6.
  5. 5
Jettison Beta Grove on Level 6
    • Activate the "Jettison Enable" buttons in each of the three remaining groves (G1, G2, G4). In Beta Grove (G2), keep to the right.
  6. 6
Flip the "Jettison Enable Master Control" in the extreme southwest.
  7. 7
Return to Level 3 and finish. Maintenance doors will now open. Find Relay 428 and repair it with an Interface Demodulator.
  8. 8
Flip the "Jettison Enable Master Control" switch on Level 6 again.
  9. 9
Push the "Beta Jettison" button in the lobby of Beta Grove.
  10. 10
    Destroy antennae
    • Use 4 units of Plastique (found on Level 4) on the antenna panels. Ensure you are far away when they detonate. One antenna traps you with a force door, which results in death. Make sure the Cyborg Conversion chamber for this level has been found and fixed before attempting this. There are ways to survive this if you are clever.
  11. 11
Destroy the reactor (and entire station)
    • Collect the 6 digits for the Reactor code on Levels 1 through 6. On each level, a screen displays one digit. These screens are always found in the same room as the Computer Nodes and cannot be destroyed.
  12. 12
When you receive authorization from Earth to scuttle the station (after destroying the 4 antennae on Level 7), go down to Level R and enter the core of the Reactor (which is blocked by gratings until this point).
  13. 13
Activate the Repulsor lift to rise to the controls. On the keypad, enter the first three digits (from Level 1 to Level 3), then the second set of three digits (from Level 4 to Level 6), and then throw the large switch next to the keypad.
  14. 14
It's then off to the Escape Pods on Level 5. Zip up to Level 5 and hop into an escape pod (code 001). Be warned that there will be enemies all along the way to stop you.
  15. 15
    Destroy Shodan
    • Find the Isolinear Chipset and use it on the panel to gain access to the central area.
  16. 16
Battle Shodan in Cyberspace. If the battle ends with only a still shot of Shodan's face, you lost and must try again. Shodan is a large gray cone-shaped entity in an area of Cyberspace on Level 9. This area is off to the side of the main current flow, so if you just let the current carry you, you won't find it. Explore.
  17. 17
Start attacking as soon as you find Shodan. Shodan will immediately make it almost impossible to control your movement and will simultaneously obscure your vision pixel by pixel. If you don't defeat Shodan by the time the screen is completely filled in, you lose. Continuously fire your Pulser as fast as possible, whether or not Shodan is in your sights.
Tips
  • Retina Scan: On Level 3, a door requires a retina scan. Find a human head with both eyes intact (by placing it in your inventory and examining it). Abe Ghiran's head is in good condition and found in the west area of Level 3.
  • Virus Mutants: On Level 2, these mutants are behind a force field and will be released automatically when you reach the correct point in the game. This is triggered by the jettison of Beta Grove on Level 6.
  • Elevators: Elevators may not work if their power is being diverted. After completing the task that involves the destruction of the 'somewhere' the power was diverted to, the elevator will be enabled.
  • Dermal Patches: Patches have side effects. Using a Sight patch will temporarily improve sight, but afterwards, your sight will be poorer than originally, and further Sight patches will not work. Use a 'Detox' patch to remove side effects from other patches.
  • Broken Doors: Some doors are 'broken beyond repair' and cannot be opened.
  • Maintenance Doors on Level 3: These doors are locked and indicate 'no maintenance required'. They will open after you first attempt to flip the 'Jettison Enable Master Control' on Level 6, after flipping the 'Jettison Enable' switches in each of the 3 groves on Level 6.
  • Reactor Destruct Code: The reactor destruct code is different for each playthrough.
  • Cyberspace Terminals: Each Cyberspace terminal leads to a separate enclosed area. You may see other areas but cannot reach them until you get to the appropriate terminal. Each time you enter Cyberspace, you have a fixed amount of time before Shodan detects and eliminates you. If you are killed in Cyberspace (Integrity Failure), your total time will be reduced on subsequent entries. Save your game before entering and practice until you can clear an area and exit normally. Then save again before proceeding.
  • Edward Diego: The cyborg version of Edward Diego will teleport away when injured sufficiently during the first two encounters. The third encounter is final.
  • Games in Cyberspace: Play any games you picked up in Cyberspace. Using a Reflex patch can greatly increase your luck.
  • Item Usage: You only need to use 1 Interface Demodulator and 4 chunks of Plastique to complete the game.
  • Turbo Booster: Select the Booster, then 'Item'. There are two settings: 'Skate' for higher and farther jumps, and 'Boost' for greatly increased top speed, which is very difficult to control.
  • Jumping: Use your Turbo Booster to jump.
