Learn how to bale straw and hay in Supermarket Simulator. This guide covers buying equipment, using the baler and front-loader, and safely transporting bales to your farm for profit.

Straw and hay are valuable commodities in Supermarket Simulator. To make money from them, you need to turn them into transportable bales using a baling machine. In the base game, you can only create rectangular bales with the quad-baler.

Equipment Needed:

  • Quad-baler
  • Bale trailer
  • Front-loader tractor
  • Bale fork implement for the front-loader

Controls for Front-Loader:

  • Raise/Lower: J/N
  • Tilt Implement Up/Down: K/M

Baling Process:

  1. Plant a large field with wheat or barley. Hay can also be baled, but not grass.
  2. After harvesting, the straw should be deposited in straight patches on the field.
  3. Hook the baler to your tractor and drive it to the field.
  4. Turn the baler on and drive along the straw patches. The baler collects straw and will eventually start depositing bales on the field at regular intervals. It takes time and straw for bales to form.
  5. Once the field is baled, return to the farm.

Transporting Bales:

  1. At the farm, unhook the baler and attach the bale trailer to a tractor.
  2. Switch to your front-loader tractor with the bale fork attached.
  3. Drive the front-loader to the field.
  4. Park the bale trailer on a flat surface (do not unhook it).
  5. Use the front-loader to pick up bales by thrusting the bale fork into them, lifting, and then carefully placing them onto the trailer. Tilt the fork downward to drop the bale.
  6. Stack bales evenly and stably on the trailer. Do not stack them too high.
  7. Once the trailer is loaded, switch back to the tractor pulling the trailer.
  8. Drive VERY carefully back to the farm, no faster than CC1, and avoid sharp turns. Use paved roads if possible, as dirt roads are bumpy. Expect some bales to fall off.

Unloading Bales:

  1. Upon arriving at the farm, park the trailer next to the barn.
  2. Switch to your front-loader.
  3. Pick bales from the trailer or ram the trailer to make bales fall, then pick them up.
  4. Transport the bales to the conveyor at the barn and drop them onto the belt.
  5. The bales will be transported into the barn, and you will receive money for each bale.
Tips and Frustrations
  • Bale physics in this game can be frustrating, with bales often falling off equipment.
  • Picking up bales requires thrusting the fork from a specific angle.
  • Baling is considered one of the most frustrating parts of the game.
  • Consider using mods, especially if you don't have the Gold Edition with the Auto-stacker, to improve the baling experience.
