Discover all the ways to unlock Mii Fighter outfits and headgear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, including the Vault Shop, Classic Mode, challenges, and DLC.

There are numerous ways to unlock new outfits and headgear for your Mii Fighters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These cosmetic items can be obtained through the Vault Shop, as random rewards from Classic Mode, found as treasure in Adventure Mode, purchased as DLC from the Nintendo eShop, or earned by completing challenges. Since Version 5.0.0, they can also be acquired from the Home-Run Contest. Some pieces have unique unlock conditions, while others can be obtained in multiple ways. The tables below detail which pieces you can collect, their unlock conditions, and which Mii Fighter types can wear them. Before customizing, you must first create a Mii Fighter.

Vault Shop

Many outfits and headgear are available for purchase in the Vault Shop, accessible via Vault → Shop. The required currency is gold, which can be earned in modes like Smash, Adventure, or Classic Mode. When an item is purchased, its slot in the shop becomes sold out. After approximately 10 minutes of in-game time, the shop restocks with new items. Discounts are available on Sundays, offering a great opportunity to purchase more outfits and headgear.

Create a Mii Fighter

To create a Mii Fighter, navigate to Games & More → Mii Fighter → Create. Select the Mii you wish to edit and choose between Brawler, Swordfighter, or Gunner, which affects their moves and outfit options. The menu on the left allows you to assign a name, adjust headgear, outfit, color, special moves, and voice. The 'Random' button randomizes attributes (except name), while 'Test' initiates a practice match against Sandbag to evaluate your Mii's customization. Click 'Save' in the bottom right corner, enter the Mii's name, and click 'OK' to finalize. To create an actual Mii character, return to the Nintendo Switch Home menu, go to System Settings → Mii, and follow the prompts.

Challenges

Three challenges are specifically related to Mii Fighters:

Panel / Tile Challenge Tips Reward
Mii Brawler Create 3 Mii Fighters. Follow the steps in 'Create a Mii Fighter' above. You don't need to adjust anything; just save, name, and OK. Repeat twice more. Business Suit (Mii Outfit)
Rosalina & Luma Get 10 types of Mii Headgear. Refer to the Headgear table below for unlock conditions. The total count excludes default headgear. Cat Hat (Mii Headgear)

Outfits

Most outfits are exclusive to a particular Mii Fighter type; for example, only Mii Brawlers can wear Skull Kid's Outfit. Many outfits have matching headgear for a complete look, though all headgear can be worn by any Mii type. Some outfits allow color variations within the Mii Fighter Settings. The table below outlines how to unlock every outfit for each Mii Fighter type.
