Complete Super Smash Bros. challenges to earn rewards like spirits and Mii Outfits. Learn how to use the Golden Hammer.
Walkthrough
- 1Access Challenges by navigating to Vault → Challenges.
- 2Challenges are organized into 8 categories called pages, indicating the required mode for completion.
- 3Each challenge is a 'panel' or 'tile' that unlocks an image upon completion. All panels within a category form a 'page'.
- 4Challenges named after a fighter do not necessarily mean you must use that fighter, but check the description for specific requirements.
- 5Some challenges, like the 'Simon' challenge on the Smash page, require specific actions within a particular mode (e.g., using a Final Smash as Simon in Smash mode, not online or Spirit Board).
- 6Milestones are awarded for completing 50 panels, 100 panels, or an entire page.
- 7The Golden Hammer can be used to claim rewards for some challenges if you are having difficulty. It is found in the bottom right corner of the Challenges menu.
- 8To use the Golden Hammer, select it and hold 'A' above the locked panel/tile. This counts towards the next Golden Hammer unlock requirement.
- 9Not all challenges can be bypassed with the Golden Hammer; excluded panels will show a 'no sign' or lock icon.
- 10Using a Golden Hammer does not penalize you and grants the same rewards as normal completion, but a small hammer icon will appear on the panel's description. This icon is removed if you later beat the challenge through gameplay. The Golden Hammer itself is not returned.
- 11Below are details for specific challenges within the 'Smash' page, which requires completion in Smash category modes. There are 28 panels on this page.
Smash Page Challenges:
- Panel: Incineroar
Challenge: As Incineroar, deal 40% or more damage to an opponent with a single attack.
Tips: Use Incineroar's down special (Revenge) to power up attacks. The more damage received, the greater the attack increase for a 60-second window or until an opponent is hit. A fully charged forward smash attack should exceed 40% damage when powered up.
Reward: Mecha Suit (Mii Outfit) - Panel: Simon
Challenge: As Simon, use a Final Smash.
Tips: To make this easier, go into Rule Settings, turn items to 'high', set only Smash Balls, use 1 stock, and set CPU to Lv. 1. Turning on the FS Meter also helps. This must be done in Smash mode.
Reward: Yoko Belnades (Spirit) - Panel: Cloud
Challenge: As Cloud, hit an opponent with his side special, Cross Slash, while the Limit Gauge is charged.
Tips: Use Cloud's down special to charge the Limit Gauge (indicated by a pink bar flashing white when fully charged). A Lv. 1 CPU is less likely to interfere. If you miss, the gauge charges quickly again.
Reward: Cloud (Advent Children) (Spirit) - Panel: Little Mac
Challenge: As Little Mac, hit an opponent with a KO Uppercut in Boxing Ring.
Tips: A KO Uppercut is Little Mac's Neutral Special when the KO Meter is fully charged (flashes red). Giving and receiving damage charges the meter; being KO'd yourself depletes it. The attack must be performed on the Boxing Ring stage, though not necessarily within the actual ring. For easier charging, try 3 stock with a Lv. 5 CPU. Turning on only Pitfalls (high) in item settings can help trap opponents for an easier hit.
Reward: Bear Hugger (Spirit) - Panel: Robin
Challenge: As Robin, use a flurry attack to KO a Lv. 9 CPU in a 2-player battle within 3 minutes, with spirits off, and without handicaps.
Tips: Mash 'A' quickly during Robin's Neutral combos to perform the flurry attack, which is the third strike and can launch opponents. This uses a green tome (spellbook). If 'A' is pressed too slowly, a fire spell will be used instead. The tome recharges over time or upon being KO'd. If you are not proficient with Robin, try performing this near the edge of a map that allows walking off-screen, like Bridge of Eldin, for easier KOs.
Reward: Robin (Spirit)
Tips
- Use the Golden Hammer for challenges you find particularly difficult, but note that not all challenges can be bypassed this way.
- Pay close attention to the challenge description to understand the specific mode and character requirements.
- For challenges requiring specific attacks or meters, adjusting Rule Settings (items, stock, CPU level) can significantly simplify completion.
- Remember that challenges named after fighters do not always mean you must play as that fighter, unless specified in the description.
- Completing challenges contributes to unlocking Golden Hammers and achieving milestones.
