Acquiring New Gear

Learn how to acquire new gear and cosmetic items in Steep through leveling, challenges, POIs, and Steep Credits.

New gear and cosmetic items can be acquired through several methods:

• Leveling Up: As you gain XP and increase your Rider Level, new items will automatically unlock.
• Completing Challenges: Many challenges, especially Mountain Stories and specific events, offer unique gear as rewards for achieving bronze, silver, or gold medals.
• Discovering POIs: Some Points of Interest, particularly those with unique lore or views, can unlock cosmetic items.
• Steep Credits: The in-game currency, Steep Credits, can be earned by completing challenges, daily/weekly events, or purchased with real money. These can be spent in the in-game shop for a wide variety of cosmetic items.
• DLC/Expansions: Game expansions like 'Road to the Olympics' or 'X Games Pass' introduce new sports, gear, and outfits.
