Discover advanced techniques for SSX Tricky, including Manual Resetting Warp, PD CofC's 'Cheap Trick', Tap-Boosting, and Glitch Shortcuts to improve your racing times.

This section covers advanced techniques for SSX Tricky, including methods that some players consider controversial or even illegal in official competitions. Use these tactics at your own discretion.

a) MANUAL RESETTING WARP: Also known as the 'Select Trick', this involves pressing the manual reset button ('Select' on PS2/Xbox, 'Y' on GameCube) at specific moments to warp your racer forward on the track, saving time. This trick originated in the first SSX where the Select button was used for manual reset.

Note: While widely used by competitive racers, this trick is illegal in official Twin Galaxies SSX Tricky World Record contests but is permitted in Showoff mode.

b) PD CofC's 'CHEAP TRICK': Discovered by PD CofC, this technique exploits a grab bug to achieve higher grab scores. When performing an Uber trick off a large jump and ending with a grab, instead of releasing the grab normally, select a grab without an Uber (e.g., L1+R2 or an experimental grab). Quickly perform the grab, tap the boost button twice to tweak it, then release the grab. The score will continue to increase as if you were still holding the grab, potentially adding hundreds or thousands of extra points per jump.

c) TAP-BOOSTING: While holding the boost button consumes boost, repeatedly tapping it instead of holding it down significantly extends the duration of your boost (almost three times as long) while maintaining near-top speed. The optimal strategy is to hold the boost button until you reach top speed, then tap it to maintain that speed. This is particularly useful on straightaways for characters who struggle to gain boost and is a good alternative when the 'TRICKY' letters (unlimited boost) are not achievable.

d) GLITCH SHORTCUTS: These controversial shortcuts involve intentionally falling or jumping off the track to trigger a game reset that places you much further ahead. Developers did not intend for these shortcuts, but some track designs have 'holes' that allow this. After falling a certain distance, the game typically resets you after about a minute, but with glitch shortcuts, the reset occurs much further down the track. You can manually reset yourself out of the 'falling forever' state after about 30 seconds (timing varies) to leverage this warp effect. Additionally, a specific glitch shortcut exists for Tokyo Megaplex that doesn't involve falling off the world but is still considered a glitch. Glitch shortcuts are always marked with **stars** and CAPITAL LETTERS and are ILLEGAL in official Twin Galaxies World Record races.
