Azura's Star Quest

The quest for Azura's Star, titled "The Black Star" in Oblivion's original release, is a pivotal Daedric quest that offers a unique and powerful artifact. To begin this quest, you'll need to reach at least level 2 of any skill. Once this condition is met, you may encounter a traveler speaking of Azura or find a book detailing her worship. Alternatively, you can head directly to the Azura's Shrine, located in the mountains east of Cheydinhal.

Upon arriving at the shrine, you will find a lone priestess. Speak with her, and she will reveal that Azura is displeased with the current state of her shrine and the lack of worthy worshipers. She will task you with retrieving Azura's Star, a sacred artifact that has been stolen and is now in the possession of a necromancer named Malkoran. He has taken it to the ancient Ayleid ruin of Mzanchend, located in the northwestern corner of Cyrodiil, near the border with Skyrim.

Your journey to Mzanchend will likely involve navigating treacherous terrain and potentially encountering hostile creatures. Upon reaching the ruins, you will need to delve deep into its depths. Mzanchend is a multi-level dungeon filled with traps, undead, and other dangers. Malkoran will be found within the inner sanctum of the ruin. Be prepared for a challenging fight, as he is a formidable opponent. After defeating Malkoran, you will have a choice to make. You can either take Azura's Star for yourself, which will transform it into the Black Star, a soul gem that can trap both white and black souls, or you can return it to Azura's Shrine as a pure soul gem, capable of trapping only white souls. The Black Star is generally considered the more powerful and versatile artifact for players.
