Walkthrough

    If you reach the west end of the tunnel without triggering the cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) on the east end, the shibito with the gun will not have its back turned and will easily defeat you.

    Pick up the --.38 CALIBER HANDGUN (#44)-- from where the shibito stood. It comes with 90 bullets. To aim, hold L1, then tap R1 or [] to fire. To reload, hold L1 and tap / or flick the controller up and to the left. You can perform a melee attack by pressing either attack button while not holding L1.

    If you dialed "508" on the phone in the office below, enter the pumping station room through the door to your left (it should be wide open). Pick up the !!CAN OPENER!! on the left set of shelves inside. The can opener allows access to an archive file in Episode 7, Chapter 4.

    You can walk over to the phone to the left of the doorway and dial "364" to dial the phone above, though this does nothing for this episode. Dialing "508" results in a busy signal as that is the number of this phone.

    As you step back into the tunnel leading to the bridge on the East Shaft Upper Level, a shibito will attack. Shoot her as she runs toward Sam.

    After shooting the first shibito, two more will hear the gunfire and run toward Sam from the other side of the bridge. Shoot them as they approach.

    Pick up the --MINING PICK (#23)-- from one of the shibito to add it to your archive if you did not pick it up from the very first shibito in the last chapter.

    Pull the switch to the left side of the tunnel. This switch adjusts the tracks so that the tracks from the bridge connect to the ones in front of the locked gate in the back of the tunnel.

    Run to the other side of the bridge. Another shibito will attack.

    You can lead any of the shibito on this side to the side of the bridge without railing and knock them off.

    As you enter the tunnel on the other side, two more shibito will attack. One will rush out from a tunnel to the right. That tunnel is your destination, but do not go there yet.

Special Finish:

  • Requirement: Wait for a shibito armed with a weapon to lean back their weapon and then shoot them or hit them with the gun right before they strike while close to them.
  • Description: Sam hits the shibito over the head with the gun, then points the gun straight at the shibito's face when it rises up and shoots.
  • Requirement: Stand next to the railing on either side and hit a shibito with the gun.
  • Description: On the final blow, Sam will grab the shibito then shoot it.
Tips
  • Avoid triggering the cutscene on the east end of the tunnel if you want the shibito with the gun to have its back turned.
  • The .38 Caliber Handgun comes with 90 bullets, so you will not run out quickly.
