Completing the Main Game's Remaining Challenges

Even after saving the world, there's likely more to discover in Paititi, Kuwaq Yaku, and the other regions. Use your newfound skills and gear to sweep up any missed collectibles and challenges.

• Side Missions: Check your map for any remaining yellow exclamation marks indicating unfinished side quests. These often lead to unique rewards, experience, and deeper insights into the local cultures.
• Challenge Tombs: If you haven't already, seek out and conquer all nine Challenge Tombs spread across the game world. Each tomb presents unique puzzles and traversal challenges, rewarding you with powerful new skills upon completion.
  • Peruvian Jungle: Includes the "Judge's Gaze" and "Underworld Gate" tombs.
  • Kuwaq Yaku: Features the "Howl of the Raven" tomb.
  • Paititi: The largest concentration, with tombs like "Path of Battle," "Temple of the Sun," "Ancient Aqueduct," and "San Cordoba."
  • Cenote: Home to the "Tree of Life" tomb.

• Weapon Upgrades & Outfits: Utilize any remaining resources to fully upgrade all your weapons and craft any outfits you might have missed. Some outfits offer specific perks that can make subsequent playthroughs or challenge runs more interesting.

New Game+

For those seeking an even greater challenge or simply wanting to re-experience Lara's journey with all her acquired abilities, New Game+ is your next destination. This mode allows you to start a fresh playthrough while retaining most of your progress from the previous save.

• Retained Progress: You'll keep all your acquired Skills, Weapons, Outfits, and Gear upgrades. This allows for a more powerful early game experience and the ability to access areas previously blocked by missing equipment.
• New Game+ Paths: Upon starting New Game+, you'll be presented with three distinct paths, each offering unique rewards and a slightly different gameplay focus:
  • Path of the Serpent: Focuses on stealth and cunning. Rewards include the Serpent's Bite bow and the Scales of the Serpent outfit.
  • Path of the Jaguar: Emphasizes combat and hunting. Rewards include the Jaguar's Fear pistol and the Claws of the Jaguar outfit.
  • Path of the Eagle: Centered on traversal and resourcefulness. Rewards include the Eagle's Talon axe and the Feathers of the Eagle outfit.

The Nightmare DLC Guide

Accessing The Nightmare

To begin The Nightmare, navigate to the main menu and select the "DLC" option. From there, choose "The Nightmare." You will be transported to a new hub area, distinct from the main game's map.

Objectives and Strategy

The Nightmare is a hallucinatory journey through Lara's past traumas, manifested as a series of combat and puzzle challenges within a twisted version of the "Pillars" Challenge Tomb.

1. The Pillars Reimagined: You'll find yourself in a distorted version of the "Pillars" Challenge Tomb from Paititi. The environment will be unsettling, with ghostly apparitions and psychological elements.
2. Confronting Fears: The core objective is to overcome three distinct "fears" represented by combat arenas and environmental puzzles. Each fear is guarded by a powerful, spectral enemy.
   • Fear of the Past (Richard Croft): This section often involves navigating a crumbling environment while being pursued by a shadowy figure resembling her father. Focus on traversal and evasion.
   • Fear of Failure (Trinity): Expect intense combat encounters against spectral Trinity soldiers. Utilize stealth and your most powerful weapons. Look for environmental traps to gain an advantage.
   • Fear of Self (Doppelganger Lara): This is typically a more puzzle-centric challenge, often involving reflections and illusions. Pay close attention to environmental cues and manipulate the environment to progress.
3. Puzzle Elements: Expect familiar Tomb Raider puzzle mechanics, but with a psychological twist. Solutions may involve manipulating reflections, activating hidden mechanisms, or navigating treacherous platforms under pressure.
4. Rewards: Successfully completing The Nightmare will grant you the Grip of Puka bow (a powerful, unique weapon) and the Brocken Outfit (offering enhanced resistance and stealth capabilities). These items are usable in your main game save and New Game+ playthroughs.
