How to Beat The Yaaxil

Defeat the fast Yaaxil in Shadow of the Tomb Raider by using fire arrows or Molotov cocktails to create burning zones and control their pack attacks.

The Yaaxil are feral, mutated creatures that serve as a recurring enemy type, but certain encounters against larger groups or specific 'alpha' Yaaxil can feel like boss fights. They are fast, agile, and attack in packs. Phase 1: Area Denial. The Yaaxil are vulnerable to fire. Use fire arrows or craft Molotov cocktails to create burning zones, denying them access to certain areas and dealing continuous damage. Shotguns are also highly effective at close range against multiple targets. Phase 2: Prioritize Targets. Focus on taking down individual Yaaxil quickly to reduce the number of attackers. Headshots with the bow are effective, but their erratic movement can make this challenging. Consider using the 'Serpent's Fury' skill for quick takedowns if they get close. Phase 3: Environmental Awareness. Utilize the environment to your advantage. Climb to higher ground if possible to create choke points or gain a tactical overview. Some encounters might feature explosive plants or other environmental hazards that can be triggered to damage multiple Yaaxil. Always keep moving and avoid being surrounded.
