Continue your Sekiro journey through Ashina Outskirts. This guide covers finding Anayama the merchant, defeating the Chained Ogre mini-boss, and progressing through the area.

Head back to the Sculptor's Idol: Outskirts Wall - Stairway and defeat the Giant Rooster nearby. Then, jump down into the open area and speak with the man sitting down. This is Anayama the Thief, who offers information about "that night" for 50 Sen. Pay him, and he will then offer more information for 100 Sen. Resting at the nearby idol will open his shop, which sells Pellets, Ceramic Shards, Fistful of Ash, Light Coin Purses, and the Phantom Kunai for 3000 Sen.

Note: Grinding enemies near the gate and in the village a few times can provide enough Sen for the information and money bags. This also yields skill points. Purchasing the information and money bags, along with acquiring two skill points for the Mikiri Counter skill, is recommended. The Flame Barrel Memo may also be found.

Nearby Anayama's shop, you can find a red glow. Touching it allows you to view a memory of Emma and Lord Kuro surveying damage.

Proceed forward and jump onto the gate ahead. Grapple to the tree on the right and eavesdrop on the two soldiers to learn that the "big bastard" ahead fears fire. After eavesdropping, defeat the soldiers, grabbing the Pellet item on the elevated area. Ahead lies the Chained Ogre mini-boss.

Mini Boss: Chained Ogre

The Chained Ogre is initially chained but breaks free when you approach the stairs. While it can be attacked before it breaks free, it's not necessary. A stealth attack is possible by retreating back towards the gate and Sculptor Idol, past the Giant Rooster, until the Ogre loses aggro. Then, return, wait for it to go back up the stairs, and sneak behind it for a stealth deathblow, taking half its health.

For the remainder of the fight, be aware of the Ogre's Perilous Attack, which is a grab. Evading is key. Dodging left or right while locked-on may not be enough due to its leaping grab. It's advised to fight without locking on. The Ogre also attacks with kicks, punches, and backward jumps. Circle around it and get in at most two hits before retreating. The Fireworks Shinobi Tool is effective, allowing for free hits while the Ogre shields itself. Use this to finish it off.

Anayama's Shop Inventory:

  • Pellet — 50 Sen
  • Ceramic Shard — 20 Sen
  • Fistful of Ash — 30 Sen
  • Light Coin Purse — 110 Sen
  • Phantom Kunai — 3000 Sen
