Learn about the various enemies in Prey (2006), including Gasplants, Drones, Harvesters, Mutates, and Centurions, and discover strategies to defeat them.

Walkthrough:

This section details various enemies encountered in Prey (2006) and provides strategies for defeating them.

Gasplants

Gasplants are large, flying enemies that resemble balls of gas. When killed, they release acid. Avoid standing directly beneath them when they are defeated. Any weapon can be effective against them. Their primary attack involves hovering, grabbing the player, lifting them into the air, and then dropping and slashing, which deals significant damage. Be cautious when encountering them while flying in a shuttle, as shooting them can damage the shuttle.

Drones

Drones are flying enemies that fire plasma energy. They can be particularly annoying, especially when multiple drones are present. The acid sprayer weapon is effective if you can get close enough. Explosives are also an option. Fighting drones while in a shuttle is generally easier: use the tractor beam (left trigger) to attach the drone, then fire cannons to destroy it.

Harvesters

Harvesters are frequently encountered in the latter half of the game and come in crawling and flying variations. They use crawler launchers. Explosive weapons, like the crawler launcher, are effective against flying harvesters. Destroying the lower body of a flying harvester will cause it to fall, and it will explode. Crawling harvesters can make fighting difficult by using their crawler launcher to create a cloud when explosives are used. The crawler launcher's cloud shield (left trigger) can protect against harvester attacks.

Mutates

Mutates are large, mutated humans with a monstrous appearance. They are fast melee enemies that charge and swing scythe-like appendages. The best strategy is to dodge to the side when they charge. If their scythe gets stuck in the ground, it presents an opportunity for free attacks. Facing multiple mutates simultaneously makes this more challenging.

Centurions

Centurions are massive, hulking enemies. The first encounter is during the game's initial boss battle. Later encounters feature less formidable versions. They possess two Auto-Cannons for hands, making them dangerous opponents. Seek cover or higher ground when facing them, as their rapid AutoCannon fire can quickly deplete health. Crawlers and explosives are effective against Centurions.
