Weather plays a significant role in Pokémon Winds and Waves, influencing battles and the environment in various ways. Understanding these effects can give you a strategic advantage. There are several types of weather that can occur naturally or be induced by certain Pokémon abilities or moves. For instance, Harsh Sunlight boosts the power of Fire-type moves by 50% and weakens Water-type moves by 50%. It also causes Pokémon with the Chlorophyll ability to move faster and Pokémon with Solar Power to gain an attack boost at the cost of HP each turn. Conversely, Rain boosts the power of Water-type moves by 50% and weakens Fire-type moves by 50%. Pokémon with the Swift Swim ability will have their Speed doubled in the rain.

Other common weather conditions include Sandstorm and Hail. A Sandstorm deals damage to all Pokémon except Rock, Ground, and Steel-types at the end of each turn. It also boosts the Special Defense of Rock-type Pokémon by 50%. Hail functions similarly, dealing damage to all Pokémon except Ice-types and activating the Ice Body ability, which heals Ice-types each turn. Heavy Rain or intense Sunlight can also affect the visibility or accessibility of certain paths. Being aware of the current weather and how it interacts with your team's abilities and moves is crucial for success in both trainer battles and against powerful wild Pokémon. For example, if you're facing a team with strong Water-type Pokémon, bringing a Pokémon with the Volt Absorb ability or using a move like Thunderbolt during Rain can be highly effective. Conversely, if you're planning to use a Fire-type Pokémon, setting up Harsh Sunlight with a move like Will-O-Wisp (which also burns) or an ability like Flash Fire can significantly boost your offensive capabilities.
