Windtorn Ruins

Guide to navigating the Windtorn Ruins in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Learn how to escape the Sandworm, find secrets, and progress through this challenging area.

Alright, so you've gathered all four Wisps and it's time to head to the Windtorn Ruins. The quickest way there is to use the last Spirit Well you found in the Windswept Wastes. But before you dash off, there's a little detour you should take. Find that Gorlek guy chilling near the Spirit Tree and give him the Canteen. He'll hand over the Map Stone Fragment, which is super useful!

Now, head back to the path and start climbing the mountain. Since you've finished up the previous areas, that big gate should swing open for you. Go on in, and a cutscene will kick things off.

Once that's done, make your way west. You'll stumble upon a mural that tells a bit of Niwen's history. After checking it out, burrow into the sand and head downwards. Keep going east, and you'll find another mural. Look to the right corner of your screen – there's a lever! Pull it to open up a new passage.

Head down again, passing a few more murals. When you reach the broken one, take a leap down. Then, burrow into the sand on the right side. You'll find a Spirit Well here, and a green blob on a pillar. Blast that blob so the pillar falls, opening up your path forward.

Continue west, and you'll discover a Gorlek Shrine. This is where the Wisps will reunite and become Seir. Pretty cool, right?

Suddenly, a massive Sandworm will appear! Your only option now is to escape the temple. As you run, you'll notice platforms breaking away. Just keep sprinting towards the exit – don't worry about anything else for now.

Phew, made it out! Now, head back into the temple and return to that broken mural. Jump down again, and you'll land at the bottom, right where that platform collapsed. Burrow into the sand on the right side to find an Energy Cell Fragment. Don't miss that!

Pro Tip: If you've been diligent with all the Hand to Hand trades throughout the game, you'll get another Map Stone Fragment. Make sure you've done them all!

Next, go back to where you found that Gorlek Shrine and keep heading west. You'll find a contraption. Slot your Map Stone Fragment into it, and all the hidden secrets on your map will be revealed. Super handy for finding everything!

With that done, you're all set to head to the next area. Warp back to the first Spirit Well in the Windswept Wastes and make your way west towards the Feeding Grounds. A cutscene will play, and after that, head upwards and then northwest. You'll find a portal that leads to Weeping Ridge. You're on your way!
