Learn how to block in Oni, when it's useful, and why advanced enemies make it less effective.

Blocking is generally considered overrated in Oni. To perform a block, you must stand still without pressing any buttons or direction keys while facing an opponent. A successful block is indicated by blue starish dust rising from your character. While blocking can be useful early in the game, its effectiveness decreases as you encounter more advanced enemies. These enemies may use grapples when you block or employ attacks that cannot be blocked. The author rarely uses the blocking mechanic.
