Mount & Blade: Warband guide to weapons, armor, horses, food, and goods, explaining damage types, weight, speed, and morale bonuses.

Weapons

Weapons are categorized by type: Bows, Crossbows, Melee, and Thrown. Bows and Crossbows will have their type in their name. Melee and thrown weapons may indicate their usage mode with blue text. Many thrown weapons can be switched to a melee mode using the 'x' key.

Weapon Attributes:

  • Weight: Higher weight decreases character speed.
  • Damage: There are three types: Cutting (c), Blunt (b), and Piercing (p). Blunt damage can knock out enemies instead of killing them, allowing for prisoners. Cutting damage has no special effect. Piercing damage ignores a portion of enemy armor, making it effective against heavily armored foes. Damage values are listed with their type (e.g., 40c or 27p). Cutting damage is typically highest, Blunt is for prisoners, and Piercing is effective against armored targets.
  • Speed: How quickly a weapon strikes or is drawn. Higher numbers mean faster action.
  • Reach: How far the weapon can strike. True ranged weapons (throwing, crossbows, bows) do not have a reach attribute.

Armor

Armor consists of Shields and Body Armor.

Shield Attributes:

  • Weight: Higher weight slows the user down.
  • /: Represents the shield's health. A shield breaks at zero health but is repaired at the end of battle.
  • Resistance: The amount of damage a shield ignores. Shields with resistance greater than 12 are considered high, and those greater than 18 are very high.
  • Size: Indicates how much of the user's body the shield covers. Higher numbers are better.
  • Speed: How quickly the user can raise the shield. Higher numbers are better.

Body Armor Attributes:

  • Weight: Higher weight slows the user down.
  • Armor: More armor is better.

Horses

Stats for all encountered horses are available in a linked spreadsheet.

Food

Food is used to boost army morale. Some foods, like Beef, Chicken, and Pork, will rot after a few days, becoming useless for morale. Grapes and Olives have high weight due to their status as goods and are not viable food for an army.

  • Beef: 7 Morale, 20 Weight, 50 Units
  • Bread: 8 Morale, 30 Weight, 50 Units
  • Butter: 4 Morale, 6 Weight, 30 Units
  • Cabbage: 2 Morale, 15 Weight, 50 Units
  • Cheese: 5 Morale, 6 Weight, 30 Units
  • Chicken: 8 Morale, 10 Weight, 50 Units
  • Dried Meat: 5 Morale, 15 Weight, 50 Units
  • Fruit: 4 Morale, 20 Weight, 50 Units
  • Grain: 2 Morale, 30 Weight, 50 Units
  • Grapes: 3 Morale, 40 Weight, 10 Units
  • Honey: 6 Morale, 5 Weight, 30 Units
  • Olives: 1 Morale, 40 Weight, 10 Units
  • Pork: 6 Morale, 15 Weight, 50 Units
  • Sausages: 5 Morale, 10 Weight, 40 Units
  • Smoked Fish: 4 Morale, 15 Weight, 50 Units

Goods

Goods are items used solely for production enterprises or trade. They can be purchased from goods merchants in cities or from villages.
