Your guide to beating OPS #4: Armored Vehicle Battle: LAV-Type G in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Learn strategies for defeating the tank and its soldiers.
Alright, so you're at OPS #4, the Armored Vehicle Battle against the LAV-Type G. This one's a bit of a choice: do you go for the soldiers first, or the tank? Honestly, I usually go for the soldiers first. That tank has a surprising amount of health, and it's easier to deal with the infantry while you've got some cover.
- 1You'll start right next to some crates. Use these for cover! Seriously, don't stand out in the open. Your first move should be to equip your M1C sniper rifle. You'll want to take out all the enemy soldiers that are marching alongside the tank. Don't worry too much if they spot you; just keep sniping them.
- 2Once they get too close, or if you're having trouble hitting them, quickly switch to your M16A1. Hit Select to turn on Auto Aim and focus on any soldiers lingering around the tank. You'll face a couple of waves of these guys, usually about four per wave.
- 3After you've dealt with the first couple of waves, a third wave will appear from the back of the tank. Again, use those crates for cover and avoid being in open areas.
- 4Once the soldiers are cleared, the commander will appear on top of the tank. This is your cue to switch to Manual Aim. Line up a headshot on the commander. You can actually do this from behind the crates if you back up a bit, so you can just barely see his head. This is a great way to take him down without taking too much damage yourself.
- 5If you decide to go for the tank directly, remember that its fuel containers are its weak spot. You'll still have to deal with the soldiers, though, so don't forget that part!
- The fuel containers on the tank are its main weakness. Aim for those if you're going for a direct assault on the vehicle.
- When the commander pops out, try to get a headshot from behind cover. It's safer and more efficient.
- Don't forget to deal with the soldiers! They can really mess you up if you ignore them while focusing on the tank.
After this fight, you'll see that helicopter-thing again, and it'll send some more hovercrafts your way. Once you return to the MSF Mother Base, you'll find that the MSF Mechs are now available for viewing. The Medical Team will be created, and Sickbay will be an option in your Staff menu. Plus, Amanda joins MSF! You can also develop the Tortilla Chips, which revive you once if you have them equipped. Pretty neat!
