Characters

• Solid Snake: The protagonist, a FOX-HOUND operative trained by McDonnel Miller. Operation Intrude N313 is his first mission. His real name is unknown.
• Big Boss: Commander-in-Chief of FOX-HOUND, formerly of Green Beret, SAS, and GSG9. He provides Solid Snake with guidance via wireless communication.
• Grey Fox: Considered the leader of FOX-HOUND due to his physique and intelligence. He is the only person to receive the codename "Fox." Contact was lost after he infiltrated Outer Heaven.
• Diane: A member of the local resistance against Outer Heaven, formerly the vocalist of the punk band Thin Wall. She uses her charm for intelligence gathering and knows about Outer Heaven's mercenaries and war machines.
• Jennifer: A member of the local resistance against Outer Heaven. She infiltrated as medical staff to save her captured brother and provides physical support.
• Kyle Schneider: Former architecture engineer and leader of the local resistance against Outer Heaven. Forced to build Outer Heaven, he escaped after his family was killed. He knows the layout of Outer Heaven.
• Dr. Pettrovich Madnar: A brilliant scientist captured by Outer Heaven while seeking asylum in the US. He was forced to develop weapons like TX-11 (Arnold) and TX-55 (Metal Gear) while his daughter, Ellen, was held hostage.
• Ellen Pettrovich: Dr. Pettrovich's daughter and former Bolshoi Ballet star. She was captured to blackmail her father into creating Metal Gear.

Boss Characters

• Shoot Gunner: Former Spetsnaz master of riot guns, guarding a top-secret underground prison at Outer Heaven.
• Machine Gun Kid: Prefers machine guns, formerly of the Special Air Service.
• Hind D: A Russian gunship that stays grounded and fires rapid machine gun shots. Weak against explosives.
• Tank: A standard military tank armed with two machine guns and a front missile launcher.
• Bulldozer: A slow-moving vehicle that runs over anything in its path.

• INTRUDER: Grants max ammo for your currently equipped weapon (F2).
• ISOLATION: Grants max rations (F3).
• ANTA WA ERAI: Sets your rank to the highest level.
• HIRAKE GOMA: Grants all keycards.

Item Regeneration Trick

To make items reappear without leaving and re-entering rooms:

1. Pause the game (F1).
2. Press F4.
3. Press ESC.
4. Un-pause the game (F1). The item will regenerate in its original position.
