Learn how to navigate menus, use buttons like Start, Select, A, B, X, Y, and understand the Evolution system in Metal Eden with our comprehensive guide.

This section details the controls and the evolution system in Metal Eden.

The D-pad allows you to walk left and right. Tap either direction twice to run. Use Up and Down to navigate the pause menu.

Start and Select buttons: Press Start to pause the game without a menu. Press Select to bring up the main menu, which includes options for Evolution, Capability, Record of Evolution, and Review of Evolution.

  • Evolution: Access a sub-menu to evolve specific body parts like Jaws, Horns, Neck, Body, Hands & Feet, Dorsal Fin, Tail, and Back of the Head. The 'Do Not Evolve' option is also present. Each evolution has an EP cost, and you need sufficient EP to evolve. EP is gained by eating enemy meat or certain crystals.
  • Capability: View your current monster's statistics, attributes, and a picture.
  • Record of Evolution: Save preferred evolved forms of your monster. You can name them and store up to 50. This is particularly useful for forms derived from red crystals, which are temporary.
  • Review of Evolution: If you've eaten a green crystal, you can temporarily transform into a saved monster from the Record of Evolution.

A, B, X, and Y Buttons:

  • B: Jump. Higher jumps can be achieved by evolving your tail.
  • Y: Bite attack. Humanoid creatures use a club instead.
  • X: Consume vegetation. Press Down and X simultaneously with a long neck to eat ground-level plants or small organisms. This function is not available for human and sub-human forms.

Items

Crystals

  • Yellow Crystal: Found early in most time periods, eating this crystal provides a tip about the current chapter and advice on efficient evolution.
  • Green Crystal: Allows temporary transformation into a recorded monster from the Record of Evolution after consumption.
  • Red Crystal: Volatile and powerful, consuming this transforms you into a significantly stronger creature for about two minutes. These forms are often memorable and worth saving to the Record of Evolution.
  • Blue Crystal: The rarest crystal, it grants a large amount of Evolution Points (at least 5000 EP), allowing for extensive evolutionary upgrades.

Edibles

  • Meat/Flashing Meat: Dropped by defeated enemies, this meat provides EP. The amount of LP (Life Points) gained decreases with higher defensive capabilities. Flashing green meat indicates a better version of normal meat, typically yielding at least double the EP.
