New to Legends of Runeterra? Learn all about the Challenges system, how to earn Challenge Points, and unlock cool profile customizations with our easy-to-follow guide.
Hey there! So, you're diving into Legends of Runeterra and noticed all these cool achievements and titles popping up? Those are called Challenges, and they're a neat way to show off your skills and personalize your profile. Think of them as little quests that reward you for playing the game in different ways. What are Challenges? Basically, Challenges are free achievements in League of Legends (and by extension, LoR) that give you objectives to chase. Completing these objectives earns you Challenge Points. These points add up and help you progress through different tiers for each Challenge Card. It's all about showing off your mastery and customizing your look in the game. How it Works: Challenge Cards & Points Every Challenge is presented on a Challenge Card. As you play, you'll earn Challenge Points by completing the specific tasks on that card. These points don't just go towards that one challenge; they also contribute to your overall Category Points. These Category Points are what determine your Crystal Rank, which is displayed on your profile, lobby, and loading screen. It's like a summary of how much you've accomplished with Challenges, ranging from Unranked all the way up to Challenger! Mastering Challenges: Capstones & Crystal Rank Each Challenge Card builds up to a bigger goal called a Capstone Challenge. To fully master a Capstone, you need to complete all the other Challenges within its group. When you combine all your Challenge Points, Capstones, and Category totals, you get your Crystal Rank. This is what really shows off your overall progress. The 5 Main Challenge Categories Challenges are grouped into five main categories: * Expertise: These are all about outsmarting and outplaying your opponents skillfully. * Veterancy: Focused on your lifetime stats and long-term achievements. * Collection: This category is for collecting cool cosmetics and engaging with the game's loot system. * Imagination: These challenges are for trying out different game modes and making those unique, innovative plays. * Teamwork & Strategy: As the name suggests, these are all about playing well with your team. There's also a Legacy category, but these are for past achievements that you can't get anymore and don't count towards your main Challenge progress. Understanding Challenge Cards Each Challenge Card has a unique Token (an icon) representing it. Below the Token, you'll see the Challenge's name and what you need to do. The points it contributes to your overall score are in the top left, and the modes it can be earned in are in the top right. Some Challenges might be specific to modes like ARAM or Summoner's Rift, but they're actually game mode specific. Tokens and Titles You can equip up to three Tokens to display on your profile, in the Lobby, and on the Loading Screen. When you reach certain tiers in a Challenge, you'll unlock Titles – special names that you can choose to display alongside your Tokens. It's a great way to add a personal flair! Leaderboards Once you reach the Master tier for a Token, hovering over it will show you a leaderboard comparing your progress to others on your server. You can even check your friends' progress this way! So, dive in, explore the Challenges tab in the client, and start earning those points.
