Goals of Karma Systems: These systems aim for reliability, player confidence in character abilities, and predictable results, often to create a more 'realistic' depiction of the game world.

Efficiency: Karma systems can speed up gameplay by simplifying complex resolutions like combat. Instead of rolling dice and calculating successes, outcomes are determined by comparing scores and applying modifiers.

Hybrid Forms: Many Fortune-based systems incorporate Karma elements. Examples include:

• World of Darkness (WoD) Willpower: Spending Willpower points can grant automatic successes on rolls, adding predictability.

WoD Dominate: This power has a fixed condition where it won't work if the target is of equal or lower Generation, a pure Karma resolution.

D&D Action Points: These can be spent for a re-roll, increasing the chance of a favorable outcome.

D&D Spellcasting: For many spells, casting is automatic (barring saving throws), providing reliability for magic-using classes.
