Prologue: Basics

Alright, so you're diving into Kao the Kangaroo for the first time? Awesome! Let's get you up to speed with the very beginning of the game, the Prologue. Think of this as your first little sparring match before the real adventure kicks off.

You'll kick things off in this kinda spooky, dark place. There's a bit of a scene where you see Kaia, a female kangaroo, get snatched up by some shadowy force. Don't worry, Kao, our main guy, is right there trying to save her. After that little intro, you'll get control of Kao. Just move forward, and bam! An enemy pops up.

To deal with this first foe, just mash the Square / X (Xbox) / Y (Switch) button to punch. It'll take about three hits to knock 'em out. Once that's done, a bit of land will shift into place, and guess what? More enemies! As you're wailing on them, keep an eye on the top-left corner of your screen. See that meter filling up? That's your special meter, and it charges up pretty fast as long as you're laying the smackdown.

Once that special meter is totally full, you'll see a prompt pop up over an enemy. That's your cue to hit Triangle / Y (Xbox) / X (Switch). Kao will do this awesome jump and slam down, creating a shockwave. It's super handy when you're swarmed or facing a tougher single enemy. After you've dealt with the three baddies on this second bit of land, just keep pushing forward. You'll hit a barrier, trigger another cutscene, and then it's off to Hopalloo Island for more story. But don't get too comfy, you'll be sent straight to Walt's Dojo for some training next!
