Learn the best ways to use Fragmentation and Plasma Grenades in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Get tips for taking down enemies and avoiding sticky situations.

Alright, let's talk grenades in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. You've got two main types to worry about: the ones our marines use and the ones the Covenant toss around. Knowing the difference and how to use them effectively can seriously turn the tide of a fight, especially when things get hectic.

Fragmentation Grenades (UNSC)

These are your bread-and-butter grenades, and honestly, I think they're the better of the two. You can carry up to 4 of these bad boys at a time. They're super versatile and can be a real lifesaver in both the campaign and multiplayer. The trick is how you throw 'em: for close-range targets, lob it right at the ground near them. For longer distances, try a higher arc so it lands where you want it. These are awesome for clearing out big groups of enemies, and they're one of the few things that can really put a dent in those tough Elite aliens. They're also fantastic for dealing with swarms of Flood enemies. The only real downside is that they can bounce unpredictably off walls, so keep an eye on where they land so you don't accidentally get yourself caught in the blast!

Plasma Grenades (Covenant)

Now, these Plasma Grenades are a bit more situational. They're the ones the Covenant use, and they look like big blue blobs of energy when you throw them, so you can usually see where they're going. Like the Fragmentation Grenades, you can hold up to 4. Their main gimmick is that they can stick to enemies, which can be a blessing or a curse. Sticking an Elite can take it down fast, which is great. However, if you happen to stick one of those blobby Flood enemies, it'll just run straight at you and explode in your face – not ideal! Because of that, I'd generally recommend saving these for Covenant troops and sticking to Fragmentation Grenades when you're dealing with the Flood.
