Unlocking your heroes' full potential is crucial in Epic Seven, and this guide will walk you through two key systems: Hero Awakening and Specialty Change. Both significantly boost a hero's stats and abilities, making them invaluable for tackling tougher content.

Hero Awakening: Unleashing Core Power

Awakening is a fundamental progression system that grants significant stat bonuses and unlocks powerful skill enhancements for your heroes. Each hero can be awakened up to 6 times, with the final awakening often changing their appearance and unlocking their ultimate potential.

Awakening Requirements & Materials

The materials needed for awakening depend on the hero's star rating and elemental type. You'll primarily be collecting Runes and Catalysts.

• Runes: These are the most common awakening materials. They come in three tiers:
  • Lesser Runes: Required for early awakenings.
  • Greater Runes: Needed for mid-tier awakenings.
  • Epic Runes: Essential for the final, most powerful awakenings.
  Runes are specific to each elemental type (Fire, Ice, Earth, Light, Dark). For example, a Fire hero will require Fire Runes.
• Catalysts: These are rarer materials that become necessary for higher awakenings (typically from 3rd awakening onwards). Catalysts are also elemental-specific and often drop from specific stages or World Bosses.

Where to Farm Awakening Materials

The primary source for all Rune types and many Catalysts is the Spirit Altar. This dungeon is accessible from the Battle menu.

1. Accessing the Spirit Altar: From the main lobby, navigate to Battle > Spirit Altar.
2. Elemental Rotation: The Spirit Altar features a daily rotation of elemental altars. farm on the day that corresponds to the element of the hero you wish to awaken. For example, to awaken a Fire hero, you'll need to farm the Fire Altar.
3. Difficulty Levels: Each elemental altar has multiple difficulty levels. Higher difficulties offer better drop rates for Greater and Epic Runes, as well as a chance for Catalysts. Aim to clear the highest difficulty you can consistently farm.
4. Catalyst Farming: While some Catalysts drop from Spirit Altar, many are more reliably farmed from specific stages in the Adventure mode or through Side Story Events. Always check the in-game "Catalyst Guide" (accessible from the Hero's awakening screen) to pinpoint the best farming locations for specific Catalysts.

Awakening Process

Specialty Change: Transforming Your 3-Star Heroes

Specialty Change (SC) is a unique system that allows certain 3-star heroes to undergo a significant transformation. This process not only dramatically boosts their base stats but also grants them an entirely new skill tree, often making them competitive with higher-rarity heroes.

Eligibility and Unlocking

Not all 3-star heroes are eligible for Specialty Change. Eligible heroes will have a "Specialty Change" button on their hero detail screen once they reach Level 50 and 5-star promotion. You can also view available Specialty Changes from the Lobby > Sanctuary > High Command > Forest of Souls, then select the "Specialty Change" tab.

The Specialty Change Questline

Once you initiate a Specialty Change, you'll embark on a series of challenging quests. These quests are unique to each hero and typically involve:

1. Eliminating Specific Monsters: You'll need to defeat a certain number of specific monster types in various Adventure stages. For example, "Defeat 50 Golems in Ritania."
2. Collecting Specific Materials: This often involves farming a certain number of Catalysts or other items from specific stages.
3. Completing Abyss Floors: Some Specialty Changes require clearing specific floors of the Abyss.
4. Using the Hero in Battle: You'll need to use the hero undergoing Specialty Change in a set number of battles, often in specific content like Hunts or Spirit Altar.
5. Donating Runes: A common requirement is to donate a large quantity of Greater or Epic Runes of a specific element. For example, "Donate 50 Greater Fire Runes."

Tips for Completing Specialty Change Quests

• Prioritize Early: Start working on Specialty Changes for key 3-star heroes like Montmorancy (Angelic Montmorancy) or Ras (Adventurer Ras) as early as possible. Their upgraded kits are game-changers.
• Multi-Tasking: Try to combine quest objectives. If you need to defeat Golems and also farm a Catalyst that drops from a Golem stage, kill two birds with one stone.
• Side Story Events: Keep an eye on active Side Story Events. Sometimes, these events offer stages that are excellent for farming specific monsters or catalysts needed for Specialty Changes.
