Controls

Menus

X confirms selections, while O cancels. Directional buttons allow mode selection. Square accesses Moogle mail and randomizes quick battle conditions. Start brings up tutorials. Triangle opens the character customization screen, where you can set up to 3 ground and 3 aerial abilities for both bravery and HP attacks. Mastering abilities by earning AP reduces CP cost or unlocks new ones. EXP improves character stats, and PP can be spent in the PP catalog.

Fighting

The analog stick controls character movement. Directional buttons adjust the camera. X is jump, O performs bravery attacks, and Square performs HP attacks. Bravery attacks determine damage dealt, which is then depleted from the enemy's HP with an HP attack. Abilities are context-sensitive: neutral O performs one bravery attack, while approaching or backing away triggers different ones, applicable to both ground and aerial combat.

R blocks attacks, and L changes the target. R + X dodges, and R + O calls a set summon. EX Mode is Dissidia's equivalent to Limit Breaks. The EX bar fills with EX Force from the arena or EX Cores. Pressing R + Square activates EX Mode, granting temporary invincibility and character-specific enhanced abilities. Landing an HP attack in EX Mode and pressing Square again initiates an EX Burst, a character-specific ultimate attack requiring button sequence inputs.
