This section provides information related to Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, an expanded version of Dead or Alive 5. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013 and includes new features from Dead or Alive 5+, along with new and returning characters and stages. An arcade version, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Arcade, was released in Japan on December 24, 2013. This game was followed by Dead or Alive 5 Last Round in February 2015.

The pre-release information details the teasing of a new Dead or Alive 5 project on April 28, 2013, which revealed the addition of Momiji and a Ninja Gaiden-themed stage, Sky City Tokyo. The game was officially named Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate on May 7, 2013. Further trailers and Famitsu revelations confirmed the return of Ein, the addition of Virtua Fighter's Jacky Bryant, and the return of the Lost World stage. New screenshots also showed the return of the Forest stage. It was clarified that Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate players could not fight against original Dead or Alive 5 or Plus players online due to new moves like the Power Launcher and netcode changes. A trailer on June 11th confirmed Leon, the Desert Wasteland stage, Rachel from Ninja Gaiden, the Aircraft Carrier stage, and numerous new costumes, completing the roster announcement for Ultimate. The Custom Soundtrack feature was also confirmed to include BGM from Dead or Alive 2.
