The Face of the Enemy

Complete walkthrough for 'The Face of the Enemy' mission in Control Ultimate Edition, including side missions 'Put a Record On', 'Old Friends', and 'Old Growth'.

Side Mission: Put a Record On

1. Ask Arish about the Jukebox Token at the war table. He explains tokens are for the Jukebox Object of Power near the security checkpoint.
2. Use the token in the Jukebox to be transported to Quarry Site Beta in The Black Quarry.
3. Follow the linear path to The Formation.
4. Travel through the active, blinking gate to the island site. Use Levitate to cross platforms as rocks rise. Other gates are blocked by invisible walls.
5. Search the large area for the missing expedition team (nothing to find at this time). Go up the slope from the entrance.
6. Play the tape recorder on the ground.
7. Survive waves of Hiss enemies. After the last enemy is defeated, you will return to the Jukebox.
8. Return to Arish to complete the quest. You will receive more Jukebox Tokens and The Formation research. This unlocks Expeditions mode.

Talk to Arish again to unlock the Old Friends side mission.

Side Mission: Old Friends

1. Fast travel to Ventilation, go towards the Janitor's office, and defeat Hiss-corrupted Cho.
2. Fast travel to NSC Coolant Pumps Entrance, go through the tunnel to NSC Coolant Pumps, and defeat Hiss-corrupted Heptonstall (a Hiss Distorted). Use Shield and Launch.
3. Fast travel to NSC Energy Converters Entrance, go to the Energy Converters structure, and defeat Hiss-corrupted Remus (a Hiss Elevated). Use your Service Weapon.
4. Fast travel to the Atlas Chamber and defeat Hiss-corrupted Guy (a Hiss Warped). Use Launch to break his shield, then your Service Weapon.
5. Head upstairs from the Atlas Chamber to the control room, then to Black Rock Processing. Defeat Hiss-corrupted Hazzard (a Hiss Trooper) fighting Rangers.
6. In the top left of the chamber, levitate to a ledge leading to a storage area. Find the Surfboard Supplement research in a folder on the floor.
7. Return to the Atlas Chamber, fast travel to the Quarry Entrance, and go to the Quarry to fight Hiss-Corrupted Thomson, avoiding Astral Spikes.
8. Fast travel back to Central Executive and report to Arish for two Ability points and a Shield Reload Efficiency mod.

Enter the Board room, examine the folder on a flight case on the left and the one on the table to acquire Timeline of Events and Speech Analysis research. Talk to Emily to learn more about Dylan.

Go up the stairs to the left of the Board Room, through the door guarded by rangers, and approach Dylan for a scene.

After the scene, speak to Dylan to receive the Level 6 Keycard.

Side Mission: Old Growth (Part 1)

1. Fast travel to Parapsychology, go down the stairs, and follow the sign to Central Research. Go down the steps opposite, past the Shelter, to the overgrown area to find the entrance to The Pit.
2. Platform your way to the bottom, collecting loot. Go through the doorway, left into an office, and into a passage for another loot container. In the office across the way, launch a power core into a receptacle to power the elevator back to Central Research.
3. Head further into the area to find Dr. Underhill's lab guarded by two Rangers. Collect the loot container from the platform on the right.
