For the most part, you will find Frost Damage to be ammo modifiers on your weapons. You will get rewards as you progress through a variety of Aether rewards on the map, to stronghold clearouts, or contract completion. Sometimes, these rewards have a chance to contain Frost Damage-related ammo upgrades on your gun, simply called Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod. Simply equip the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod, and the weapon you have equipped at the time will get a new weapon damage effect. Think of it similar to ammunition changes in Multiplayer and applying Incendiary.
Furthermore, players can also bring a bit of Frost damage via the pre-lobby MWZ loadouts section. A Field Upgrade called Frost Blast offers an occasional chance to deploy a device that damages enemies and applies slow effects to enemies.
The other method of acquiring the Frost Damage weapon effect is via the random elemental damage perk. This grants you one of the various damage modifiers, which can result in Frost Damage getting added to the weapon.
If you’re looking for a more permanent method of applying Freeze, then you need the Cryo Freeze Formula. When you get this formula, you then need to extract from the map, and then you can craft the ammo type in your gear menu in a pre-game lobby. From here, you can auto-craft the item, and then apply it to your gun when you want to use it. This will make farming those Frost-kill challenges much easier. Once again, these are random rewards from completing contracts and other PVE objectives in game.
When you have applied Frost Damage to a weapon, you will find your bullets inflict a crippling type effect on an enemy, slowing them down. In some instances, you may even outright freeze an enemy in place, adding solid control to your build.
These methods will be important methods of getting frost kills in Zombies. Sometimes, you must do it for daily challenges, while other weapons require frost kills to unlock camos.
Where to Find Mimics in MW3 Zombies
Discover where to find Mimics in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Zombies. Learn about HVT Contracts, Aether Nests, Infested Strongholds, and story missions for Mimic locations.
To find Mimics in MW3’s Zombies mode, you will typically catch them in the following locations:
- Randomly selected in HVT Contract Missions
- Inside Aether Nests
- Infected Strongholds
- Story missions, such as Dr Jansen’s Location
You can sometimes find them as the HVT in Contract Missions, where you need to find and kill a creature. They are typically Manglers, or they are Mimics. This accounts for the Low Threat area, with more specials becoming available in medium-threat areas, such as Disciples. So, stick to Low Threat Contracts and get them there.
Mimic locations are known to spawn inside Aether Nests and Infested Strongholds. Like the HVT Contracts, you are not always guaranteed one, but they certainly are fairly common. The bigger the Aether Nest or Stronghold, the better the chances and outcomes are of getting them. If you need to get in to Strongholds, you can go and kill a Mercenary Convoy, or you can buy a Keycard from Low Threat stores for 200 Aether.
The only other suggestion is that you can find them in certain higher-profile levels. The Dr Jansen location and coordinates level is one such example that players can find Mimics in. Albeit those missions present themselves very rarely. But, it is worth noting if you have one you need to do and have a Mimic challenge ahead of you too.
How to Kill a Mimic in MW3 Zombies
Aim for the mouth of the creature to hit the Critical Zone of the Mimic.
When fighting a Mimic, there are a few attacks you need to be wary of. The first is their lunge attack, which will grab you, and bite you for a large chunk of your heart or still shred plates if you have them. They also have a ranged attack to fire energy blasts at you. They can also do a heavy melee attack too, but that’s only if you’re really close. General tips to fight them is to kite them around obstacles so they never have line of sight for their grab attack, and they can always path towards you to never fire their explosive energy blast at you.
It is worth mentioning that the weak spot in Mimics is their mouth. Always kite them the best you can, and when you have distance, unload rounds into their mouth to kill them as fast as you can. This is more applicable when fighting Higher Tier Mimic enemies or the HVT, lower-tier Mimics when you have equal or better weapons drop fairly fast, so you can typically kill them with your Field Upgrade or a magazine.
And there you have it; you now know how to find and kill Mimics in MW3.
