Battlefield 1 Apocalypse DLC details: release dates, new maps, weapons like the Howell Automatic, and the Firefighter trophy.

The fourth and final multiplayer expansion for Battlefield 1, 'Apocalypse', was released on February 20, 2018, for Premium subscribers and on March 6, 2018, for non-subscribers. Its theme revolves around "infamous battles, brutal tools and unique weapons." The DLC introduces three new infantry maps, two new aerial maps (copied from the campaign), and a Conquest Assault game mode variant. It also adds the Air Assault game mode, six new guns (Howell Automatic, Ross Mk.III, M1917 Enfield, lMG08/18, RSC SMG, Revolver Mk.VI), two new melee weapons (Meat Cleaver, Broken Bottle), ten new assignments to unlock weapons, two new bombers (Hansa Brandenburg G.I, Airco DH.10), a new grenade (Improvised Grenade), a new gadget (Anti-Aircraft Rocket Gun), and a new stationary weapon (Livens Projector). Additionally, the update introduced "afflictions" (anti-perks), raised the level cap from 130 to 140, and added the Prybar axe. A later update on May 7, 2018, increased the level cap to 150 and added the Annihilator (Trench variant) Thompson, eight new weapon variants, the Sickle, and the Welsh Blade. There is no new Operation for Apocalypse due to the lack of a narrative link between the featured battles.

Tips
  • The Meat Cleaver and Improvised Grenade are unlocked by default.
  • The Broken Bottle melee weapon is linked to trophy #49.
  • New weapons can be unlocked via ten new assignments, linked to trophy #51.
  • The Livens Projector is a new stationary weapon, linked to trophy #48.
  • The base game's Heligoland Bight map offers opportunities to get kills on swimming enemies near "B" (Mainz) and "C" (Bunker Beach) flags, or around coastal objectives.
  • The Zeebrugge map also features swimmers, particularly near "C" (Munitions Dock) and "D" (Submarine Pen).
  • The Albion map from the Russian DLC is recommended for swimming kills, especially near the bridge between "B" and "D" flags.
  • Fao Fortress has waterways, but the main infantry routes between "A", "B", and "C" flags are too shallow for swimming.
  • On Empire's Edge, "E" (Island Battery) can be captured by boat, offering stealthy approaches.
  • On Fao Fortress, "A" (Turtle Hill), "B" (Sunwada Redoubt), "C" (Marsh Village), and "G" (Shatt Al Arab Post) can be captured by boat.
  • The "D" (Submarine Pen) and "C" (Submarine Pen) flags on Heligoland Bight can be captured from the water.

Trophy 47: Firefighter [Bronze/25G]

To earn this trophy, you must perform a melee kill on a Flametrooper Elite. Elites are hero classes found in pickup crates. Flametroopers are identifiable by their flamethrowers. On Apocalypse maps in Conquest mode, look for Flametroopers near "B" flag on Caporetto, "E" flag on River Somme, and "B" flag on Passchendaele. You can wait for an enemy to pick up the Flametrooper class or for a squad-mate to spawn on you and take it. Listen for the distinctive roar of the flamethrower to locate them. Flank behind the Flametrooper for a one-hit melee takedown. If your primary weapon has a bayonet, you can use the bayonet charge (melee while running) for a swift kill. Alternatively, a direct approach and spamming the melee button can also work, though you may be set on fire.
