General Tips for Den Defense

Den Defense can be challenging, but maximizing your success is achievable with the right approach. Pay close attention to the enemy units you'll face (press Triangle to view them) and use the unit chart to identify effective counters.

  • Deploy Assassin Leaders: Place Assassin Leaders on all applicable rooftops at the start to generate morale income. Ensure the rooftop nearest to the HQ is covered.
  • Loot Bodies: After defeating enemy squads, loot their bodies for potential morale boosts (money or morale points).
  • Utilize Ezio's Pistol: Use Ezio's pistol for instant kills, to indicate priority targets for your assassins, and to deal with Infiltrators or Scouts.
  • Watch for Stalkers: These units quickly kill your assassins on rooftops. They are indicated by a specific symbol; use Ezio's pistol to eliminate them.
  • Strategic Cannon Use: Deploy the cannon at the first sign of trouble to help clear enemies and give yourself a chance to use it again after it recharges.
  • Upgrade Barricades: Upgrading barricades increases their resistance to enemy attacks and repairs them.
  • Effective Unit Combinations: Combine units for maximum effectiveness. Examples include:
    • Caltrops & Splinter Bombers: Slow enemies with Caltrops, then use Splinter Bombers. Crossbows and rifles can finish off survivors.
    • Caltrops & Weapon Barricades: Use Caltrops to slow enemies in front of a Weapon Barricade for easier elimination.
    • Air Assassins & Barricades: Position Air Assassins on rooftops in front of and behind barricades to counter Infiltrators and Scouts.
    • Riflemen & Crossbowmen: Maintain a mix of Riflemen (stronger, slower) and Crossbowmen (faster, weaker). Riflemen can also scare enemy units.
