Hey there! We're about to dive into Ven's story in the Land of Departure. It kicks off pretty much like Terra and Aqua's – they're taking their Mark of Mastery test. But right off the bat, there's a little challenge waiting for you.
Boss Fight: Light Orbs
These glowing orbs have two main moves:
- Attack 1: They'll fly back and forth, dealing minor damage if you're too close.
- Attack 2: They sweep slow-moving lasers across the room.
Since these orbs zip around a lot, the quicker your attacks, the better. Strike Raid and your regular X button combos are your best bet here. If an orb starts up its laser attack, just back off until it's finished. You can still hit it with Strike Raid from a safe distance, though!
Once you've dealt with the Light Orbs, there's another cutscene, and then you're off on your adventure! As a bonus for clearing the Land of Departure, you'll unlock the KEYBLADE BOARD. You can mess around with it whenever you like – check out the Command Board section for more details on that.
You'll also snag the TERRA and AQUA D-LINKS. These are super handy because using them temporarily swaps out your battle commands and finisher for theirs. D-Links are actually really strong, especially in the first half of the game, so don't forget to use them! Plus, using a D-Link will heal you completely – keep that in mind, especially since the Cure spell is only available on the Command Board in this first world, and it might take a few tries to get.
The Aqua D-Link is particularly great because she comes with Cura right from the start.
